Tim Kohl

After a long battle with dementia, my father has left the physical realm. I was blessed by his unconditional love, his passion for music and the arts, his courage, his deep understanding of humanity, including an appreciation for people from all walks of life, his intellect and humor. The way he listened to me, and loved when I’d challenge his perspective. He was acutely aware of the importance of balancing fatherly guidance with the need to nurture my own unique dreams and desires. He was a successful attorney early on, but later in life he struggled with depression, dementia and all kinds of fallout from these things. But as the illness stole his great mind, it also disposed of the constraints of darkness that had haunted him, and allowed him to love purely and powerfully, right up to the very end. Many times I was in awe of his tremendous qualities, but I’ve never felt more inspired by him than I am looking back right now.
