Recuerdos

Stephen Shust Jr. Stephen Shust, Jr., age 91, of Jermyn, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021, in Peckville, PA. Stephen was born in Jermyn to Stephen Shust Sr. and Beatrice Myshak Shust on December 29, 1929. He married Lillian Urda Shust on June 30, 1956. Stephen was a proud and loving husband and father. He delighted in his children's' and grandchildren's' accomplishments, joyously sharing in their moments. Stephan was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy. A quiet man, he never wanted to be in the spotlight, instead he was a good shepherd, teaching by example, and serving his community. He was especially fond of his service to his God and church at Saint John's Russian Orthodox Cathedral and Saint Michael's Orthodox Church. He also spent many years as an active officer in the Russian fraternal organizations of R.O.F. "LUBOV" and R.B.O. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children throughout the United States, Canada and various islands. His family often noted a twinkle in his eye when in the company of his loved ones, especially most recently, for his godson Aiden McFarlane. While he was known to be generous, he had little room for those who refused hard work and those that failed to stand up for their beliefs. Thank you to the Arts for Life program, granted through the Alzheimer's Foundation, for bringing Stephen's artistic vision to life for his family to experience and embrace. Stephen is preceded in death by father, Stephen Shust Sr., mother, Beatrice Myshak Shust, and sisters, Pauline Frankosky and Anna Pusey. Stephen is survived by his spouse, Lillian; son Gregory; daughter Daria (Bruce); son Nicholas (Lourdes); daughter Kathryn; grandsons Alan (Jasa) and Andrew; brothers Walter and Nicholas; and sister Tatiana. There will be no viewing due to COVID precautions. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday February 27, 2021 at Saint John's Russian Orthodox Cathedral for immediate family only. The funeral will be live streamed at stjohnsmayfield.org. Burial date TBD. In lieu of donations or flowers, please make contributions in Stephen's name to The Alzheimer's Foundation or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Heartfelt condolences go out to all of the family <3 Truly sorry for not knowing of his death until today..... He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. It was truly my pleasure to meet and get to know him and his family. I'll never forget the way we liked to banter a bit:):) All in good fun, but, if he was making a point..... it was clear:) He was a very good man that loved Lillian, his children, and family <3 May Heavenly Father watch over his family even closer......
