עליו השלום
We lost Kurt on January 17, 2022. The past few years were difficult, but we find comfort in the memories we have of Kurt from happier times.
Kurt was a kind and gentle person who was able to understand people on a deep level. My mother and I knew Kurt for over 30 years, and throughout that time we could always depend on Kurt to be there when we needed him.
Kurt was born in New York and moved to California a long time ago. He loved the life that he made for himself in California. Kurt was a creative person who enjoyed writing, photography, and cooking. He put together a self-published collection of short stories and poems, and he was always excited to share his writing with people. He loved to talk about the time he spent working at Sir Winston’s, a restaurant on the Queen Mary.
Kurt graduated from Cal State Long Beach, and worked as a healthcare professional for many years. Kurt was an active member of his synagogue and he was very proud of his Jewish faith. He taught us a lot about Judaism, and helped us get more in touch with our own heritage.
We had a lot of good times with Kurt. He had a great sense of humor, and he never turned down an invitation to get together.
Over the past 5 years Kurt’s hospitalizations and health struggles took a toll on him. Kurt survived many traumatic episodes and he never gave up, but it seemed like a little bit of Kurt would disappear each time.
For those who were close to Kurt, we appreciate your kindness and compassion.

Kurt was a very nice and pleasant person to be around, that always had a sense of humor about the moment. We where lucky to share special occasions with him and will miss him. I remember being very intrigued to listen to the stories of his past travels and adventures. Rest in peace dear Kurt.

Kurt was a kind and caring gentle soul who was so proud of his faith. He was always so willing to share the history of Judaism with everyone. It was also so nice to share his birthday with my daughter’s birthday at the beach with a barbecue.
