Johnny Ho, beloved husband, stepfather, son, brother, and dear friend to many, passed away on September 19, 2024, while holding his wife’s hand after facing 9-months of cancer treatment.
Johnny was born on June 15, 1987, in Alexandria, Virginia to Darrin and Jenny Ho and was soon followed by the birth of his younger brother, Brian. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Fairfax Station, where many of his lifelong friendships and relationships were born. He relocated to Richmond to attend VCU where he majored in business and continued to reside after obtaining his degree. He became a business analyst for Visalia and was fortunate enough to work alongside his colleagues who became close friends. Johnny remained in Richmond until he relocated to Powhatan in 2022.
Johnny embraced life with an easy-going nature, receiving challenges with grace and humor. He was a natural at balancing many areas of life, from work, to relationships, to personal interests and hobbies. When he wasn’t working, he spent his time with friends and family, golfing, traveling, cooking, walking his Golden Retriever, Piper, and living a healthy lifestyle.
The impact that Johnny had on the people in his life is immeasurable. Known for his joyful and charismatic nature, Johnny brought laughter and humor to every gathering. He was deeply loyal to his loved ones, and consistently showed up for the people in his life. Approachable, kind, and considerate, his magnetic personality drew others to him, resulting in a circle of loved ones that only continued to grow. He was dedicated to nurturing and strengthening his relationships, especially when it came to his wife and stepsons. The love he shared with his wife was rich in friendship, dedication, and trust. He looked forward to building their family and watching his stepsons grow.
Johnny is survived by many that will keep his spirit and legacy alive, including his loving wife Amanda (34), step-sons Gavin (9) and Weston (7), his parents Darrin (65) and Jenny (64), brother Brian (35), Grandmother (93), as well as many loyal and loving friends.

Growing up with Johnny was a gift I’ll always cherish. From our earliest days, he had this incredible ability to light up any room, to make even the dullest moments feel like an adventure. He was the kind of brother who would drop everything to ensure everyone around him had a great time, no matter the circumstances. Our bond was special; I had a knack for getting under his skin, but it was always rooted in that brotherly love that only we understood. Johnny introduced me to rap at a young age, a passion that changed my life forever. He taught me how to appreciate the art of expression and the power of words. Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was to have him as my older brother. He was selfless in a way that inspired me and so many others—always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. His love for family was immense. As a remarkable husband and stepdad to Amanda, Gavin, and Westin, he poured his heart into making them feel valued and cherished. Watching him embrace this role was a joy. Even now, as I grapple with sadness and anger, I find solace in knowing that he is at peace. It’s hard to believe he’s gone, especially since he was the realest person I ever knew—always genuine, always present. His kindness left a lasting mark on our hearts. Johnny’s aura of positive energy was captivating and I am so grateful for the countless memories we shared. If you were lucky enough to know Johnny, you experienced a rare soul. His smile was contagious, his laughter echoed in our hearts, and his dark humor kept us all on our toes. In our grief, I can almost hear him teasing us, reminding us to find joy even in tough times. Johnny fought hard, and though he left us too soon, I’ll forever treasure the moments we had. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in our memories. I ask everyone here today to remember Johnny and strive to be more like him each day. I think we all can agree that the world would be a better place with more people like him. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives. RIP Johnny. I miss you so much. Hope you are playing the best golf in heaven. Love, Brian Ho
