John Selden Russell

John Selden Russell, 62, was born on October 26, 1956, and passed away on April 4, 2019, at WVU Medical Center after a battle with cancer. He was the son of the late James Selden Russell and Mary Ruth McCracken Russell. John spent most of his adult life working in the Texas oil and gas industry as a deck hand before coming home to West Virginia to retire. He enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities. He is survived by a sister, Lynn Ann VanFossen (James) of Parkersburg and half-brother, Robert Steven Russell (Joy) of Elijay, Ga. He also is survived by one niece, Crystal VanFossen Griffith, great-nephews, Nathaniel and Caiden Griffth and great-niece Abigail Griffith. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Amy Elizabeth Russell. The family wishes to thank the Amedisys Hospice team for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church feeding program. Arrangements are pending at the Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
