Just remembered that I have photos of him from my father Mark's 80th bday party, in Santa Clarita, CA, 9/29/2012. Here's one of them; posted others in the Photos tab.

My favorite memories of being with Uncle Fred: Cupertino get-together (can't recall if it was a family reunion, Christmas, or something else) at his place with the extended family (Williams's, Petty's, the other Jennings', etc.) and playing card games with all the cousins, using pennies to bet with, from the HUGE jar that he had collected. Canoe trip (same one that Paul's referring to probably) on a river and lake in far NE Washington that Fred joined our family on; the last day (I think) we had to paddle a very long way across the lake into a strong headwind. Us kids were whining, but my Dad and Uncle Fred just kept plugging along; no complaints. I think we finally got to our destination / campsite at about 8 pm, and we were all starving! During a Christmas visit to our Bellevue house during my teenage years, he took me to a downtown Bellevue record store (remember those?) and allowed me to pick out an album I really wanted, for my birthday. I still remember which one: Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery & Imagination, and I still have it. Cheryl, me, and our family seeing him multiple times in Phoenix, over the years that both he and my Dad owned condos in the same complex there; we would borrow Dad's condo for spring break visits. We had several dinners at Fred's place, or out at restaurants there. He was always so kind and patient with our kids! The final time we saw him in person was December 2009, on the long road trip Cheryl and I took after I got laid off from WaMu. We stayed at his Aurora house for several nights, and enjoyed evenings with him, as he explained all the items he had in the various rooms from his extensive travels. And of course, the garden, which even in December he was doing a fair amount of work on. Attached is a picture with Fred, Cheryl and (I think) Simon. There's a similar picture with me in it, but it turned out terrible, so not including it to avoid embarrassing myself LOL. And lastly, I'll always chuckle to myself as I remember how he would end most sentences with "...and that." -Brian Jennings
