Born in Ogden, Utah in March 1953, Dave was raised in Southern California.  He joined the United States Navy in 1972 and served his country proudly for 20 years.

His naval career started in San Diego, California, and took him around the US, ending at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit in Charleston, South Carolina.

During his service Dave earned the following awards:

Sea Service Deployment ribbon w/ Three Bronze Stars

SSBN Deterrent Patrol Pin w/Two silver Stars

Good Conduct Medal (Fourth Award)

Navy Expeditionary Medal

After twenty years of honorable service Dave earned the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer.

Following his naval discharge, Dave worked the Savannah River Site for over 15 years. It was on this project that he met Samantha.

Dave was an avid stamp collector, history buff and science fiction fan.  He will always be the Pinball Wizard to his son, and a font of technical knowledge to his friends. He is survived by his wife, Samantha, and his four children.

My condolences Sam and to the rest of Dave's family. I began working with Dave at the WIPP facility in 2014. He was a great mentor, leader, and friend and will be greatly missed. Prayers for you all.

Samantha - I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Dave was such a good man - a gentle teacher, a compassionate mentor, and a all around good man. He was truly one of the kindest people I have ever had the honor to work with, and he will be dearly missed on the P&CI Training Team. Please know that I'm sending hope for peace for you and your family - those we loved are never truly gone, so long as they live on in our memories.

It has been 2 years and I have been thinking of the fun times we had and the silly nicknames/stories. Most of all, I am thinking of how Dave was a natural leader, mentor and faithful friend to those he loved. I am privileged to have spent time with him and Samantha and to see the true love he displayed for her and others. We love you Sam, (Kelly & Matt)
