Clem Martinez

On July 7, 2016 Clem Martinez passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 92 years old. Clem was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Piadad Leyba and Clemente Martinez, Sr. Both preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his only sibling, Carmen Martinez Fajardo. Growing up he moved to various places such as Las Vegas, New Mexico, Los Angeles, California and Seattle, Washington. Upon moving back to Albuquerque he met and married the love of his life, Gloria Cordova Martinez. She preceded him in death in 2008. Clem began his career with the Frito Company in 1951 and worked with them for 35 years until his retirement in 1986. He was known as the original "Frito Bandito" in New Mexico where he was a route salesman and brought the Frito Lay products into local supermarkets in the Santa Fe area. Clem and Gloria raised three children together. Cathey Merlino and partner Jim Gutierrez, David Martinez and Dan Martinez. He also has one very special grandson David Stone and his wife Rebeca, all of whom cared for him during his final months. Clem was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
