I was fortunate to have met Bill some 30 years ago while in Cincinnati making the motion picture, A Rage In Harlem which starred Forest Whitaker and Gregory Hines. Besides being an enormous help to me and the production, Bill and Diane became very dear friends. Bill is truly the best person at maintaining friendships across any distance and over long periods of time. He managed to keep track of me in New York and beyond during my crazy years on location, after marriage and children and again after we moved to Virginia. We so enjoyed meeting Bill and Diane in DC at their fascinating apartment (aka amazing art museum) to share stories and catch up. I have always been in awe of the amount of travel and adventure Bill managed to pack into his life. I am truly so sad to bid farewell to my friend. Bill will always be an inspiration to me for his life well lived; My whole family (Wayne, Jonathan, Alex & I) send prayers, healing and comfort to Diane, Anita and Sylvia and to all of Bill's family and friends. I will continue to search for my Circa 1990 Cincinnati pictures to post. All my love, Patty Hess

Uncle Bill with my dad Sam. He said they were more like brothers than cousins. There were always good stories about growing up, days on the farm or in town.

Bill once said: 1) The Best things in Life: Are the People you love; the Places you have been; and the Memories you have made along the way; Treasure All of Them! 2) People may have forgotten what you have said, or did; But they will never forget how you made them feel.

The conversations were always enlightening and entertaining with Uncle Bill whether discussing art, politics or travel.

We were so fortunate to have Uncle Bill in our life. From visits in New Haven and Rye, when we were all so young, to our children visiting on Sanibel and in Fort Lauderdale, Uncle Bill was there in happy times and sad. His optimistic attitude was and still is inspirational. He will be missed. Sending love and hugs to all of his family friends. Thanks to Cuz A and Cuz S for bringing us all together.
