"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." Beloved Husband. Grandpa. Uncle. Friend. Proud Navy Veteran. Paul was a light in the lives of everyone he knew. On any given day, you could find Paul chatting up the bagging clerk during a trip to the grocery store, politely making small talk with a telemarketer over the phone, or discussing political and economic structures with bus drivers across Europe. Paul loved people and his devotion to his friends and family is evidenced by the hundreds of birthday and holiday cards he sent over his lifetime. In the last few years, to see his dedication to making people smile requires only a glimpse at Facebook where you'll find personalized bitmoji birthday wishes sent by Paul almost everyday of the week. Paul's actions spoke volumes of his character- an example of temperance, tolerance, amenability, and strength. No matter who you ask, you will receive a resounding "Everyone loves Paul Sweeney."

Jim Fredrick

I met Paul through my brother Ted Fredrick. Along with Dave Merchant, the Ritter Brothers and many other great guys, I was invited to join their merry group at their annual week at the Colorado River. Every summer, we waterskied, drank beer, played back gammon, hit golf balls, threw frisbees and spent the best vacations a young dude could ever have. Every guy brought something to the party. Paul was the sweetest of souls--funny, crazy, caring. Game for everything. A follower of Nasty Nick and his Peter-Meter (don't ask!) Thank God memories don't go away. And Paul will always be remembered as the best of men.

Here are a few memories we are sharing from our family get togethers. As has been said before, Paul was always fun to be around. He always seemed to find humor in every situation and always got you laughing. His demeanor seemed to bring out the best in people. He never complained. His steady patience was calming when confronted with a tight situation. It has been a pleasure to know him! Todd & Toby Brandtman
