Jeannie Parsons

Frederick Parsons

It is with broken hearts that the family of Fred Parsons announces his sudden passing. He was born May 28, 1993 and died suddenly September 6, 2022 as a result of a senseless, random act of violence in Nanaimo, BC, at the age of 29. After a difficult early start in life, Fred joined his thrilled forever family at the tender age of 4 with his big sister Jeannie. His new family was over-the-moon with joy to share the privilege of journeying life with Fred. He started his schooling at Rutherford followed by Uplands School and went on to finish high school through Nanaimo Unique Kids Organization (NUKO).
Fred is survived by his big sister Jeannie, little brother Ben, his mom, his furry 4-legged constant companion, Nyx, his siblings in BC, Alberta and Manitoba, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Fred is predeceased by his Auntie Barb.
Fred was a sensitive, kind-hearted, curious child, eager and enthusiastic to work alongside others. Fred was working towards joining the Navy. He dreamed of being a police officer and helping people when he was a kid and he created many cardboard badges for himself. Anything that resembled a police hat was on his head while he chased bad guys around the house. Fred was an incredible brother to his siblings. As he got older, Fred's curiosity expanded and he wanted to learn new things, including guitar, cooking and astrology. He was talented at working with his hands and he had a strong work ethic. He rarely, if ever, missed a day of work. He would go above and beyond to help others and this made him a valuable employee. Fred was sensitive to world issues and was known to despair over man's inhumanity to man. The irony is obvious.
Fred was born with disabilities but he worked harder than anyone we know to compensate for his challenges. He also had unique talents where he excelled such as drone nature videography. Fred had diverse interests and he had exciting plans for his future. He had chapters left unwritten in the story of his life.
Fred loved walking and hiking in nature. The forest trails and the waterfront were his happy places. He had dreams that included building a tiny log house in the wilderness and learning bush craft and survival skills. When young, he was affectionately called "Animal Whisperer" and later "Mountain Man" by his family. He enjoyed simple family life, the connections, campfires, hiking, a tense game of chess and even doing chores with people.
People who knew Fred, know that in this time of crisis, he would gently tell everyone to chill. He would say, "It's all good. Hug a tree for strength and energy and be kind to one another."
"Safe travels Fred. You are safe and no one can hurt you. Thank you for sharing your incredible journey. It was too short and we all miss your bright light. We are sad. The sun will shine again, and we will be okay, just not right now."
