A shinning light
Mrs. Ijeoma Uwakwe (née Oriaku) was born on May 17, 1964, in Eluama Isuikwuato, Abia State, to the late Mr. Isaac Oriaku and Mrs. Lillian Oriaku. From an early age, she developed a deep passion for learning and a calling to serve through education.
She completed her primary education in 1979 and proceeded to the Teacher Training College, where she graduated in 1986. With a relentless commitment to self-development, she furthered her studies at Michael Odetola College of Education, Nofija Epe, graduating in 2001, and later obtained her degree from Lagos State University, Ojo, in 2005.
Her teaching career began in 1990 with the Lagos State Teaching Service. Over the years, she rose through the ranks, serving in various schools as Assistant Head Teacher and eventually as Head Teacher. In these roles, Mrs. Uwakwe was not only a leader but also a reformer who spearheaded initiatives that improved school infrastructure, learning environments, and facilities for both staff and students.
Her outstanding service and dedication to education earned her several recognitions, most notably the prestigious Best Head Teacher Award in the 2021/2022 Ojo Merit Award. This accolade stood as a testament to her tireless work, leadership, and the indelible mark she left in every school she led.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Uwakwe was a devoted wife to Mr. Eze Uwakwe and a loving mother to four children. She was widely admired for her unwavering faith, nurturing spirit, and her commitment to building both lives and institutions.
Her legacy lives on through the countless students she inspired, the schools she transformed, and the family she cherished. She will forever be remembered as a woman of virtue, vision, and impact—an educator who dedicated her life to shaping brighter futures.

A Letter to my baby girl The Absolute love of my life , my Manager, my forever friend. You were a woman who loved God deeply and who loved her family with all your heart. You would go to the ends of the earth to make life easier for us, and you did it with so much grace and humility. There are countless beautiful memories with you, too many to single out just one or even write down , I remember when I gained admission into university and had an altercation that left me hurt. You dropped everything in Lagos and came all the way to Enugu just to make sure I was okay. I can still taste the okro soup you made for me. I will never forget the look in your eyes — the pain of seeing me struggle and the strength of a mother determined to make sure her child was safe and cared for. That was you — always showing up, always protecting, always loving. My love , the absolute love of my life , my electric bulb. You lit up every room you entered, not just with your presence but with your heart. You noticed the tiniest frown, the slightest sadness in our eyes, and you carried it like it was your own. This love wasn’t just for your children — it was for everyone. You never treated one above the other, that was the beauty of your heart. The way your face always lit up whenever you spoke about us , even over the tiniest accomplishments. You were always there — cheering us on, worrying for us, guiding us, believing in us even when we didn’t . you gave me the greatest gifts of life: humility, kindness, love, accountability, and faith. You were the gentlest soul, a lover of peace. Mum, I love you so much. Since you left to join the angels in heaven, there has been a lump in my chest, it hurts so deeply it feels like a physical pain. But even in my pain, I thank God for the gift of you, the lessons you left me, and for the love that will forever live in my heart. Rest well, my Queen. My baby. The absolute love of my life . Until we meet again. I miss you so much mum De Wem baby

Tribute to a Mummy with a Heart of Gold The news of your passing came as a great shock. I was left speechless. Your kindness toward me was so genuine that even my class teacher once asked if you were my mother. You would share your own food with me so that I would not go hungry. In such a short time, you embraced me and cared for me as your own child. There are countless good things I could say about you. Continue to rest in peace, dear Mummy. Chidimma Osakwe
Paul Ohonsi (Neighbor)
Paul Ohonsi (Neighbour) Well, it is still very hard for me and my family to believe. The news came like a joke, yet it is becoming real. Your kind is rare — your character and way of life are truly worth emulating. The peace you carried is worth embracing and using as a tool to guide the younger generation. Your approach to raising your children is worthy of study, as it stands as an antidote to the madness in our society. 👏👌 You were a great neighbor like no other. I can boldly say you lived a good life. I can boldly say you were a peace lover. I can boldly say you gave your children the best upbringing. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord forever. 🙏❤️

Thank you for always showing kindness to everyone around you. You were so warm, so easygoing, and so welcoming. I can’t help but wish I had known you much earlier. Your smile had a way of lighting up an entire room, and it’s still hard to accept that you’re no longer here. Even through the pain, I find comfort in knowing how deeply devoted you were to Christ, and I believe with all my heart that you’re now resting peacefully in His bosom. Rest on in perfect peace,ma.

From the very first time I met her, she welcomed me with such warmth and treated me like one of her own. Mummy’s kindness, gentle spirit, and the way she always made sure I felt at home will never be forgotten. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and loved, and that is a rare and beautiful gift. I will always cherish the laughter we shared, the meals we enjoyed together, and the motherly advice she gave me when I needed it most. Her passing leaves a big void, but her love and care will always live on in my heart. Rest well, Lagos Mummy. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
