OBITUARY Gail Patricia Hunt Delahousie, loyal loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2020, peacefully at home in Chicago "Matteson", Illinois at the age of 84. Born June 15, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Gail was the eldest of four children, born to the union of Georgia and Swain Hunt. Gail was educated in the Chicago Public School System and after high school she found her love for fashion. Gail was the winner of several local pageants, and enjoyed a brief modeling career. During this time she met and married H'Orvis Anthony Gladney. To this union, they were blessed with their two daughters, Leslie Cheryl and Victoria Anthony "Toni". In 1968, Gail relocated with her daughters to Los Angeles, California. She continued her professional career with the United States Government until her retirement from the IRS in 1997. Gail relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, and enjoyed a very fulfilling and lucrative second career in Real Estate. Of her many passions, Gail enjoyed world travel, politics, sewing, entertaining, and most importantly SHOPPING. Gail was very active in a variety of activities such as church groups, book clubs, bridge clubs and investment clubs. She was a member of The Girl Friends Inc. Social Club, Carousels Social Club and The Chicago Connection. Affectionately known as "Grammy", Gail loved her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren and took enormous pride in being their grandmother (Grammy). For all who knew her, Gail is described as an undeniable SWEET human being, with a smile that brought warmth and light. Her kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and giving spirit were apparent to everyone she met, this to the very end. Gail's most cherished legacy is loving the LORD, loving her family and always leading by example. She was truly the epitome of class and grace. Gail is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Donna Jean Waller and Cynthia Ann Richmond. She is survived by her brother Swain C Hunt (Mildred), sister in-law Mildred R.Gladney, and first cousins Clynell Jackson Jr., Sandria Robinson. Gail leaves to cherish her precious memory: daughters, Leslie Cheryl (Derrick), Victoria Anthony "Toni" (Brian Keith); six grandsons, Sean Bernard Gladney (Alicia), Brandon Anthony Clay (Jeannae), Christian Ravard (Jamie), Derrick E Woods Jr., Brian Joseph Irvine, Drake Sayers Irvine; three granddaughters, Taylor Marie Woods, Shaine Alexandria Irvine, Shannon Leigh Irvine; great-granddaughters, Sydney Ryan Clay, Valentina Guadalupe "Pupa" Gladney, Dakota Rose Woods, Ava Nicole Morrison, Violet Sloan Woods, Nicole Guadalupe Gladney, Indie Rose Morrison, Savannah-Rose Michelle Clay; great-grandsons, Jaydon Anthony Clay, Sean Bernard Gladney Jr., and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Open Gates Remember there's an open gate At the end of the road Through which each must go alone. And there in the light we cannot see, Our Father claims his own. Beyond the gate I will find happiness and rest And there is comfort in the thought That a loving GOD knows best.

Full transparency, my heart broke when I heard that Gail had transitioned. I know it's the circle of life and all, and I believe she has been joyously welcomed and reunited with our fam that have already transitioned, but for me, it makes my world a little dimmer. I'm sending virtual hugs to Leslie, Toni, her grands, great grands and everyone who was blessed enough to get to know and experience her. She was sweet, gentle, funny and oh so chic and ladylike. As as a kid, (and in my old age) she always made me feel special. She had a way of smiling (all in her eyes) at you that made you feel like you were the most important person in the whole world. I can hear her calling me Sweetie and even now it makes my heart ping. She leaves behind a rich and beautiful legacy in her offspring, and tons of beloved memories and moments that I'm sure none of us will soon (if ever) forget. Sending encouragement, love and prayers of comfort to all my fam. Ronnie
