CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF OUR TREASURE

In Loving Memory of Professor Yetunde Adedoyin Ajibade (nee Lokulo-Sodipe).

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother. She was not only a beloved mother to her children, she was also a cherished daughter, sister, wife, aunty and grandmother. Her nurturing love and care extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless students, colleagues, and friends.

Mom was a woman of great excellence. She achieved numerous milestones throughout her career, including being the first female provost at the postgraduate school at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. Her dedication to education was evident in her role as a professor at OAU, where she shared her passion for learning for over 40 years.

She was admired for her accomplishments and deeply loved for her honesty, warmth, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel valued. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the memories she created.

In this time of sorrow, we remember the light that Mom brought into our lives and celebrate the extraordinary woman she was.

Sleep well, our hero, best friend, prayer partner, mentor, and mom. You were loved. Our lives will never be the same without you. Love you always and forever.

It is still like a dream to me that our Youthful Yetunde, the mummy that used to call me daddy has gone ahead of us. We, in our humanity, reckon that is too soon. But with total submission to the will of God and with the understanding that she lived a very good and purposeful life, we can truly thank God for a life carefully lived with a sense of divine dedication and commitment to God and mankind. We are persuaded that she lives on. She was such a humble, godly and kind soul. A perfect example of a true believer, an ardent supporter of God's ministers, the weak and the vulnerable in the house of God. Adieu! Till we meet to part no more. Ven Richard Ogunlusi, Vicar, Church of Pentecost, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife

We were discussing you on over the weekend, with plenty of hope. Then Nimi came home early looking sad, though she denied that all was not well, it was clear, but the news she gave me came as a shock. It is a big relief to know where you are, with your creator. The first time we spoke about you, Bros T mentioned your confidence that you were ready to see your creator, this was 2 years ago. It is a delight to know that you were sure of your promises in Christ. You are a woman that I admire. Despite rising to very high status in your career, you also raised lovely children. All your children love God and are doing very well, and it is a joy that you witnessed this. It is not an accident when these things happen, it is a sign of the excellence that a person chooses. You lived like Abraham, God chose him because He was sure that Abraham will raise his children to follow God, that was the reason why he became the father of nations. You have raised Godly children that are a blessing, you have helped other people's children excel in their chosen careers from all you lecturing days at OAU and elsewhere. Your passing reminds me of this song: When breath grows still, And night draws near I will not be afraid I know the plans [God] has for [you] Don't finish at [your] grave. I know you are cheering your children on, cheering your siblings on, cheering your nieces and nephews on, saying God is real, Heaven is beautiful. RIP.
