I was unaware that Dr. Kreutter had died until I saw his family’s loving memory printed in today’s post. I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband and father. My two children were cared for by Dr. Kreutter from birth to age 18. One of my children was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 11, and Dr. Kreutter delivered the diagnosis with calmness and kindness. I will always remember that moment and many others spent in that office. My daughter and I run into him at Cherry Creek Mall a number of years ago. He remembered us and was so delighted that my daughter’s diabetes was well-managed. May all of you experience comfort and peace today. ❤️ Kathy Drulard

My dad- Bill Kreutter. He was born in Denver and died Aug 17th in Denver at 81 years old just as the sun tipped to touch the mountain tops. He walked this world with a quiet kindness, gentleness and humor. He respected this earth and was a steward of its beauty. As he hiked its paths, he often collected the trash left behind by others. A fly fisherman since the age of eight, Dad fished and tied his own flies, a craft he honed expertly. He fished catch and release to be in nature and to understand the connections between river, fish and land. Dad climbed Colorado's 14ers, not to conquer but to understand the movements of mountains and to see another world from the top. He skied telemark down black diamonds. He devoted his life to children in his unassuming pediatric practice for 40+ years, often serving generations of families with tenderness and humor. He drew, painted and made macramé hangings. He loved music and he approached most everything with a joke or laughter. He loved my mom, sister and me with no judgment nor desire to change us. He was a father full of imagination and play. And some parts of him will always remain a mystery because he never asserted his ego; he rarely had a strong opinion nor complaint and, like a river, always went with the flow. In a final act of humility and generosity, he donated his body to science. When we receive his ashes, we will place some at Monarch Lake, the place he learned to fly fish with his Dad and where his memories stayed so strong even through many years of dementia. The last six weeks of his life were hard, full of frustration, struggle and confusion. As some of his senses faded, he connected to music and we sang song after song together. Even in the midst of the distress, as I brought him outside on evenings so that the setting sun could touch his skin, he was still able to say "It's just beautiful" and he would return I love yous with those same, small three words. Like a quiet, meandering river, his gentle way carved and formed the earth, making places for life and beauty. I am glad his spirit is finally free.

We have so many memories when we lived in CO from 2004 until 2010. Bill always took us in with open an open heart. He was the most kind and patient man I knew. He was so curious all the time to figure things out he didn't know or wanted to learn more about. So much passion in him for what he loved to do and he truly lived each day to the fullest. He was such a wholesome person. He loved kids so much and his passion for the outdoors was so intense. The memories at the Condo need I say more. He loved breakfast and oatmeal was where it was at with fruit (peaches was the front runner). He loved going to the gardens and walking around Cherry Creek. We had many dinners and desserts and the time we got to spend with him we are so thankful and fortunate. It was so much fun meeting in Bailey and going for a hike and spending some time with him. The Ziemann Family - We are thinking about you.
