Just heard of his passing. Had hoped to visit him again this summer while in the USA. He was our "Slovak" violin repairman and advisor, and we enjoyed sharing Slovak treats and phrases together. Ever thankful for his kindness

I only knew Richard for a couple days when I was back in the area visiting. After an unfortunate event, my violin was in need of repair and I only had a few days before I flew out. Richard was recommended and he happily accepted the task to repair it given the short time frame. He not only repaired it in-time, but went above and beyond the job that needed to be done. I’m not a professional musician and my violin is a 30-year-old basic student violin. Nothing fancy, but it’s important to me to pass it along to my daughter. He valued that and wanted to make sure it was in the best possible condition. The violin looked beautiful, and what was a stressful situation for me, he completely turned around! Richard was a master at his craft and I could tell he truly enjoyed his work. He was also incredibly kind and encouraging, and our conversation was the push I needed to start volunteer teaching strings, which I love. My sincere condolences to the family. Such a kind man and I’m sure he’ll be missed by many!

My condolences to the family, Pam. May he rest in peace. If you are in the area, I would love to see you, Pam. I still remember the USD good times.

This afternoon I learned of Mr Bigg’s passing. My heart sunk. I told him that he was “the violin whisperer.” He had the right touch; my violin came to life after he worked his magic. He also knew my bow maker, so he seemed to enjoy repairing it. He enjoyed conversation and what a pleasure to have known him. My violin will never be the same, but neither will I. Rest In Peace. My condolences to the family.

I’m so very sorry to hear of Mr Biggs’ passing. My daughter plays violin and he helped fix hers a couple of times. He was always so wonderful to talk to and had so many stories to tell. He will surely be missed by so many. Rest In Peace.
