Walter Rick" Barker

Walter Ray “Rick” Barker went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2018 surrounded by family. He was 64. Rick was born in Lorraine, Ohio and was raised in Parkersburg, WV. Growing up, Rick was a member of and loved the Parkersburg Boys Club. Rick served in the Army and later the reserves. Serving his country was his most cherished accomplishment. Rick retired from Dover Steel. He enjoyed watching baseball and was had been an avid Pirates fan. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Scott J. (Slim) Barker and Geraldine L. James Barker, grandparents Scott and Sylvia Barker and Walter and Delphia James. He is survived by four brothers, Terry Barker and wife Sandy, Patrick Barker and wife Monica, Robert (Bobby) Barker, and Kevin Barker and wife Terri. He is also survived by three nephews and eight special nieces and nephews. A memorial service for family and friends is planned for March 31 at 2:00 PM at Larkmead Gospel Church in Parkersburg, WV. Pastor Ed Leisure will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, West Virginia.
