Virginia passed away peacefully on the evening of January 5, 2026.

Virginia was born in Utah, but life events flung her young life to many places, until finally settling with husband Yosh in El Cerrito and raising a family. Throughout her life she was active as a volunteer in community: leading a Girl Scout troop and a Cub Scout pack, hosting Richmond Shimada Sister City delegates, and employing her artistic skills at Berkeley Public Library’s Children’s Room, among many other quiet but appreciated contributions.

Virginia will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, her artistry, and the gratitude with which she lived her life.
