Loved Ones

It's with great sadness that we say goodbye to Thomas (Tommy) Charles Roberts who passed away in his sleep at London University Hospital on Dec 1, 2020.    Sadly, Tom contracted COVID-19 while in the hospital recently and was unable to recover.

Born in Ammanford, Wales on June 15, 1931 Tom moved to Canada in 1957, married his wonderful wife Eileen on Sept 4, 1965 and spent the past 50+ years raising his family in London, Ontario.  He lived a full and active life right up until the end and would not have wanted anything less.  This is likely how he would have wanted to meet his maker: quietly, quickly and without a lot of suffering.  But for those of us who love him, it was way too soon.

"Tommy Charles" was a kind, gentle friend to everyone - he was easy to like and always trying to make people smile (especially kids!).  He was also strong, considerate and a little stubborn at times but only when it really mattered.   His neighbours could always count on Tom to lend a hand when they needed one and he was always happy to meet up for  a Tim Horton's double-double.

Tom will be greatly missed by all those who knew him including his wife Eileen, sons & daughters-in-laws David & Danielle, Ken & Jacki, Grandkids Jason, Tyler, Darci and Chelsea and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Wales.

A celebration of life for Tom is being planned for the summer once it's safe to gather.  He would have been 90 years old on Jun15, 2021.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choosing in his memory.

Our hearts are broken and we are going to miss Tom's wonderful sense of humour, boundless energy and ready smile forever.

So sorry about this sad news. He was always a fun neighbor when we were Out playing hockey on the street. He would always stop to catch up with us or ask the score. He is definitely one of the people I think of when I think of “home.” He will be missed.

Tom was always so full of energy. Here are some pictures from his visit with us in Ottawa. He greatly enjoyed visiting with our Welsh neighbour. They shared a passion of Wales and trains.
