My fondest memories of Tom Achayan are his joy, wit and loving heart. I enjoyed spending time in your home in Coonoor and watched Gita Kochama and Tom Achayan lovingly parent. In the last few years, I enjoyed hearing from him over Facebook. Always a great sense of humor.

I thank God for bringing Tom, Gita & their children to the UK. The past 21+ years have allowed us to get to know & love each other in a way that more than made up for the lost times of our younger days due to physical distances. Tom wasn’t just my ‘little’ brother, he became my trusted, faithful friend & most importantly my brother in the Lord. I valued & benefitted enormously from his vast knowledge of spiritual & temporal things, his gift of explaining complex things with clarity & simplicity without condescension. This became a frequent occurrence especially during this past year & has been instrumental in bringing ‘Rhema’ words to me. I had the privilege of seeing first hand how Tom & Gita practised what they believed, living by faith, keeping an an open home & the gift of unstinting hospitality. James & Marianna & I treasured having them close by. We were the blessed & joyful recipients of their abundant love & warmth. We miss Tom and will continue to do so. We are eternally grateful for our precious times together & looking forward to our reunion in God’s time. Lalita, James & Marianna.

We are so grateful to have known such a friendly, kind, instructive, faithful & faith-filled person as Tom, & to have had the privilege of being called his friends. Truly Tom & dear Gita have been a beacon couple with arms open to all-comers, & though we will miss Tom greatly, we look forward to our Heavenly reunion with him in God's good timing.

Tom uncle is such an inspiration. I enjoyed my time in KFC and the hospitality of Gita Aunty and Uncle. I have fond memories. Such a special and wonderful family. Lots of love to you all. Mani

It was an honour to have known and worked with a man as kind, empathetic, intelligent and knowledgeable as yourself. I met you when I was in my early twenties and had just moved to the UK on my own. I was young and very unsure of myself but you always treated me with respect and as an equal. You had a wonderful way of raising everyone's spirits and making everyone around you feel valued and respected. You were a formative memory of my early days in the UK and I can never thank you enough for that. Rest in peace, Tom. You are, and always will be, a wonderful soul. I will miss your dearly.

Tom is not a memory - he is a very 'now' person in my life. He is the Pastor who baptized me. He & Gita welcomed me into Union Chapel, Visakhapatnam, & into their open house. Gautam had just been posted to Vizag. I was exploring the neighbourhood, and walked into Union Chapel during Service. I felt I had come home. Tom was teaching from 1st Corinthians, explaining verse by verse, precept upon precept. What he & Gita built into my spirit is eternal. Their passion for Christ & the Gospel, their servant leadership was the first nudge by the Holy Spirit into my life towards full-time ministry. I mourned Tom's passing, I mourned Gita's loss; but I know their house, it's built on the Rock of Faith in Christ. So I celebrate Tom's life and contribution to the life of the Body of Christ. Few understood the depth of his analytical mind, his sharp wit, articulation & steadfast heart. Truly, I cannot think of one Pastor in my 34 years as a born- again believer, who would answer an urgent call from me - and thrust his hand into my gunk-filled blocked kitchen drain to save my house from being flooded with mucky water! I haven't met another Pastor who would want to promote me, & expose me to Ministry in such a way that I could be useful to the Church. My circumstances were such in those days that I couldn't step into the wonderful doors that Tom was opening for me. It is an Ode to Forgiveness in Christ that despite the painful storms & shipwreck we went through at Union Chapel & King's Fellowship, we came together to pray as friends. I will never forget our Tuesday Bible Study and Prayer. I am very honoured to be friends with Tom & Gita. I believe their relocation to England was God's way of vindication for his servants. From thence, God has opened doors for their beloved children - Tikvah, Judah, Ritsia & Shamuel. As Abraham & David of yore rested in the Lord, so is Tom resting - full of years, service, playing with his grandchildren, surrounded by a loving family. He treasured his God-given gem, Gita, he loved her passionately. I am here for her.
