Celebrating the life of Todd Riehl, PharmD, BCOP

Loving husband to Jessica and father to their two children

Todd joined Genentech/Roche over 15 years ago after 6.5 years as a practicing Hem/Onc Pharmacist on the inpatient service at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He obtained his PharmD at University of Toledo and was a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacy Specialist (BCOP). He had a long and distinguished career culminating as a Group Clinical Science Director and GDL for the Tumor Agnostic and Rare Cancers Team.

Todd was an inspiration to everyone who met him. He had a deep and passionate drive to bring the promise of precision medicine to patients around the world. He was a force for change who kept the patient at the heart of every decision. Todd was an incredible colleague, mentor, manager and friend, and will be deeply missed.

I was lucky to have had Todd as my manager. During this time he took a leadership course. He was assigned to request his direct reports describe his leadership by choosing a car and color. I chose an orange jeep wrangler because Todd easily followed conventional roads until he hit an obstacle or challenge when he just as easily could fearlessly blaze his own trail to achieve his objective. I chose orange for Todd's bright boldness and creativity. At the time he carried his iphone in an orange cover. Later I learned his daughter Zoe had assigned him orange. Orange was his color in his family. I feel very blessed to have had Todd as my manager and I will hold dear many learnngs from Todd not solely about clinical resarch but also about life. I miss Todd and will never forget him.

I have supported Todd and his team for many years. He was a great manager, a visionary, and a very kind person overall. His quest to find cures for patients, his drive, and his passion to advance medicine for Genentech/Roche was very infectious. It made myself and many others work that much harder with pride. The world lost a great person, but rest assured, his legacy will go on. Sincerely Jason Hsieh

I only first met Todd in March of this year, but it was clear that Todd was an innovator who put patients first. No less importantly, Todd was a brilliant and devoted mentor, who inspired and touched the lives of countless individuals who are now leading initiatives to transform the cancer treatment landscape. Todd will be missed, but he leaves an extraordinary legacy.

Its really quite simple....some people just have pure souls....I met one in Todd Reihl and I am a better person for it....Jack London said .."the function of a man is to live, not to exist..." Todd truly exemplified that. I was honored to have worked alongside him for a short but very meaningful time. Godspeed Todd Riehl, look down on us and help us carry out your mission. Dave Raben
