December 1st, 1959 - February 24th, 2021
Susan Melodie Maas Wildman, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on February 24th, 2021 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Born in Pasadena, California on December 1, 1959, Susan moved to New England with her late husband, Tom Wildman, and has loved her new home state of Massachusetts ever since. An active member of the equestrian community, Susan spent much of her time in the barn with her horses, where she was often surrounded by her loving daughters and friends. Outside of the barn, she cherished any time spent at the beach or outside in nature with those she loved. She had an incredible heart, a contagious smile, and was generous with her time, energy, and love. Susan is survived by her devoted children, Catie and Ellie, who both reside in Boston, MA. She loved having her daughters nearby and was able to make many beautiful memories with the two in the final years of her life. Though her death was sudden, Susan wanted all to know that she was not afraid of passing on, as others she’s loved are waiting for her in her next chapter. A memorial service in her honor will be planned in the coming year, with details to come.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Sierra Club at 2101 Webster Street, Suite 1300, Oakland, CA.

I am so sad, I just learned of Sue's passing. I first met her when she volunteered to help at 1st NEDA schooling horse show. She did everything with a smile and laugh in spite of pressure to get those scores done. Lovely, lovely woman. My sincere condolences to her daughters.

So sad to hear of Susan's passing. We met many years ago, while at USC. Her kindness and that of her whole family were amazing to witness first hand.

To know Susan was to know a ray of sunshine. She was kind and gentle and caring. When she asked how you were, she actually meant it and listened to your reply with interest. I always enjoyed seeing her. I am so deeply sorry for her beautiful daughters that she loved so deeply and took so much pride in. I hope they both know how much comfort and love she felt from their presence in her life. Be well and remember her well. She was a very special person. A quote I find so much meaning in: "I suddenly realized I wasn't crying for him at all, but for the things he did. I cried because he would never do them again......tell us the jokes the way he did. He was part of us and when he died all the actions stopped dead and there was no one to do them just the way he did. He was an individual. He was an important man." Ray Bradbury

Another memory of Susan and her generous and sharing family: Christmas dinner. To Susan's left is her grandma, Virginia, in the center of the table, Susan's mother, Barbara.
