I have the most wonderful memories of learning how to make tortillas at the kitchen table with my Nana and cousin Rose. I was in awe of expert hands guiding us in making the dough, rolling out perfect circles and cooking them on the cast iron pan that is still in her kitchen. I think of my Nana’s every time I make tortillas. Even though I live far away, I was always comforted by her prayers and wise words on the phone and in cards when I was angry or sad. She always made me feel like a blessing in her life and I will miss her saying “God Bless You mijita.”

My Grandma Stella. Very Beautiful. Strong, and kind. She always had something to offer when needed. Never turned anyone away. Devoted to family. She had great pride in how she lived her life. Followed her heart, and held her faith. Promised nothing she couldn't fulfill. Forgiving and loving. My memories always make me smile. I loved to hear her laughing. Her smile brought joy to all. My father, Eugene J.Arrey, her oldest. Loved his mother very much. Taught us the family traditions even though we lived far away. Wanted us kids to know his family in Santa fe .NM. His Mother was my Grandmother, I will hold her in my heart, and miss her everyday. Love you Always Gina Marie

My dearest Nana, you taught me so much. I will forever cherish each moment we spent together until we meet again. Thank you for bringing us together to laughter, pray, sing and be together to send you home. ❤ You will forever be loved and missed. To my Momma and Uncle there are no words other than I love you dearly and always know how much my Nana loved each of you. As my Nana would say "You pray for me and I will pray for you too. K"

My sweet Nana, you brought so much joy into every room you walked into. You never missed an occasion, even when it involved a bunch of screaming kids...you still enjoyed and watched the craziness! I am so grateful that my babies got to have you in their lives.❤️ You were the most faithful woman I have ever met. Through your actions, you showed me the beauty of the Catholic Faith. When my world was turned upside down, I took comfort in the fact that I knew with absolute certainty that you would be flooding heaven with prayers. You’re going to be missed dearly by everyone. I am thankful that me and the boys got to say good bye to you. What a beautiful opportunity we had. I’ll never forget your last words to me...”Pray for me and I’ll pray for you.” I love you Nana.

Though I have few pictures, I am thankful for a wonderful mind to recall the times I’ve spent with Nana. I think of the time when I was about eight and she gave me a blanket my mother made for her because it would give me comfort as I was separated from my mother and father at the time. A blanket I still have to this day. Or the time we went to Disneyland. Or the time she helped me with a school project about our family. Or the times when I’ve gone to visit and we went to the movies or had dinner and just talked. I know I will miss those times but how I look forward to the time we meet again to make more special memories.
