Loved Ones

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Mrs. Shirley Ann Lynch (Lim Choon Ja), 88, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her loved ones on February 11, 2025 at 11:45 AM in Arlington, Texas.

Shirley was born on July 24, 1936 in Seoul, Korea. Throughout her life, she embraced her heritage while building a loving home and family. As a devoted military wife, she supported her husband, Walter E. Lynch CW3, through his service, until he retired from the military in 1978. She worked at most of the AAFES shops on various military bases, forming connections and friendships with many along the way.

Family was at the heart of Shirley’s life. She was a dedicated mother to her only Daughter, Sherry A. Casares, and a cherished Grandmother to Grant and Jasmin Horsey, Jessica and Allen Ford, Holly and Rod Cervantes, and Tiffany and Mario Torres. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren: Brandon Gostynski, Luke Cary, Walter Ford, Greyson Horsey, Jordan Horsey, Makayla Cervantes, and Delilah Cervantes. She found immense joy in caring for her Daughter and Grandchildren, always ensuring they felt loved and supported.

Shirley had a vibrant personality—loving yet stubborn in the best ways. She was known for her kindness, humor, and generosity. She enjoyed visiting with people and sharing stories over home-cooked meals. Cooking was one of her passions, as was shopping for treasures big and small. She also found comfort in Korean movies and songs that connected her to her roots. Her love for poodles brought her additional joy throughout many years.

A woman of faith, Shirley was a Christian who lived with honesty and love for the Lord. Her unwavering spirit touched many lives through simple acts of kindness and care.

She is preceded in death by her father-in-law Henry L. Lynch; mother-in-law Lois Matchett Lynch; Brother in Law Gary L Lynch; and brother-in-law Gilbert Russell.

Shirley leaves behind her Husband Walter E. Lynch CW3, a Daughter Sherry A. Casares, Her Grandchildren and their spouses Grant and Jasmin Horsey, Jessica and Allen Ford, Holly and Rod Cervantes, and Tiffany and Mario Torres.

Her  Great-Grandchildren Brandon Gostynski,  Luke Cary, Walter Ford, Greyson Horsey, Jordan Horsey, Makayla Cervantes, and Delilah Cervantes.

Sister and Brother in Laws Jeanne and Oscar Lanning, Judy Russell, Bob Lynch and Judy Siefer.

Shirley’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. May she be remembered for the warmth she shared and the love she gave so freely.

Rest in peace. You are loved and will be remembered by many.
