"What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." - Helen Keller
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Emmett Wrenn, M.D., who departed this life on August 26, 2025, at the age of 80 in Atlanta, Georgia. Bob was born on June 29, 1945, in Peoria, Illinois, and he lived a life characterized by dedication, kindness, and passion.
Bob's educational journey began at Indiana University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1967, followed by his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1971. He completed his OBGYN residency in 1975, embarking on a long and fruitful career as an obstetrician-gynecologist. In 1975, he joined his father-in-law, Dr. H. Richard Schell to establish an OBGYN practice in Bloomington, where he became a cornerstone of the community. Throughout his career, Bob delivered thousands of babies, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the families he served and leaving an indelible mark on all those whose lives he touched.
Bob was not only a dedicated physician but also an ardent family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann, and their three children, David, Jennifer, and Jeremy. His warmth, generosity, and considerate nature were the hallmarks of his character, creating a nurturing environment for his family and all who knew him.
Beyond medicine, Bob had a passion for photography that began in medical school. He fondly remembered the times he spent with his children in their basement darkroom, developing photos while listening to Chet Atkins and Gordon Lightfoot. His adventures in SCUBA diving, which began during a trip to Bonaire in the mid-1980s, were made even more memorable with the gifts of camera equipment from Ann. Bob embraced the transition to digital photography, dedicating hours to mastering editing software like Lightroom, culminating in the creation of award-winning photographs.
As we remember Bob, we cherish the remarkable life he led and his enduring legacy of love and care within his family and the community. He was kind, honest, energetic, and above all, a generous spirit whose memories will forever illuminate the lives he has touched.
Friends and family wishing to express condolences may send cards and notes to his wife, Ann, at 3523 Buford Hwy, #306, Brookhaven, GA 30329. In this time of grief, we find solace in the memories of Bob's life and the love he shared with us all. May he rest in peace.

This is the other Jennifer Wrenn sending my condolences and prayers for comfort for Ann, David, Jennifer and Jeremy. As the very late tag-a-long of the cousins, I have almost no memory of the farm we all lived on. My only childhood memories of "Bobby" and "Johnny" are at the family cabin up north of these two very tall and lanky boys who were kind enough to take time to joke with and tease a pesky little cousin- which I loved, of course! I'm thankful that my sister Toni and I were able to reconnect many years later with Bob and meet Ann. It was a special treat when Bob joined Toni and me on a family history tour, sharing all kinds of information and stories and introducing us to more relatives. I especially enjoyed standing on the farm and listening to Bob and Toni faux arguing over some incident involving a barn burning! I apparently missed all the fun, lol. May you all find comfort in the love of family and friends and may you find joy in the good memories. With love, Jennifer Jones
Judy Lawrence
Larry and Judy Lawrence, Our sincere condolences to Ann, David, Jenny & Jeremy and their families. No one knows more than you what a wonderful, compassionate and supportive man he was. All those attributes he shared with you he gave to the many families he helped to create during his years in practice. Bob and Ann were the model of working as a team. She supported his long hours and he supported her many and varied Bloomington volunteer activities. In retirement, he may have been busy but at least he could sleep through the night. Over the years, Bob had many hobbies that interested him but photography was clearly a winner. We have all enjoyed his gift with photography on FaceBook. Bob never saw a moment that wasn’t a teaching moment. May we all learn something from how he lived his life.

Bob was my father here — my photography buddy, and so much more. I moved overseas 19 years ago to marry Jeremy. I had no friends, I couldn’t speak English well, and I was shy. But he welcomed me with open arms and treated me like his own daughter — and all folks here, too. I was, and always will be, deeply grateful for his kindness, warmth, and love. I will never forget the time he sat next to me until I stopped crying, when I was lost in life. I love you, and I already miss you so much. Right now, I have so many memories of him and our family — because we took a lot of photos together, and we've kept them all. Thank you, Bob.

Dear David, Jenny and Jeremy, I was very sorry to hear the news. I have nothing but smiles when I think back about your family. The reminiscences here are a wonderful tribute to the man I knew. I also know you've taken care of your parents wonderfully these past few years and you should be proud to cherish so many wonderful memories. My condolences to your mom, family and friends who knew and loved your dad so dearly.

Bob, Walt and Terri Sterneman and me and my late husband (Al Feitl) would gather for many wonderful dinners while Bob and Ann still lived here in Bloomington. I still have two items Bob made for Al/I (a 13x16 framed photo of an eagle/eaglet at Monroe Lake and a small 9x7x3 felt lined wooden storage box). They're both proudly displayed in my home for all to see and for me to still reflect on. Great memories for sure. There was a connection with Al/Walt/Terri (Otis) and Ann and I were close with both of our work with the local League of Women Voters and the Bloomington Rotary Club. It was a pleasure to enjoy personal time together and Dr. Wrenn assisted me in his practice with a women's health issue that was very helpful as well. I always enjoyed seeing his many photographs he displayed (whether in his home or office). He had a story about each one of them. Bob was always interested in others and engaged in meaningful conversations with whoever he encountered. I was lucky to have the opportunity to know Bob (both personally as well as professionally). Rest in peace, Bob! You are missed!

¿Cómo conociste a Robert?
I worked for Dr. Wrenn approximately 14 years at Aegis Women's Healthcare (started out as Dr. Schell, and Dr. Wrenn). I started out filing charts, etc. while attending college. I continued working for Dr. Wrenn for several years. I learned a lot from him, and he enjoyed teaching me, and answering my questions. We had a great office staff, and we all had a great time together. Our office parties were the best! Dr. Wrenn also delivered my first child, Alyssa. My delivery ended up being a Cesarean section, a little stressful (umbilical cord around her neck), and Dr. Wrenn was so awesome throughout it all. He was calm, cool, collected, knowledgeable, and wise. When he was in the process of delivering my baby, he said, "Well, it's a girl, and she is wearing a necklace." I can still hear his voice, and it brings tears to my eyes. It is easy to see why he was a favorite among patients. One of the funniest things that I remember is that Dr. Wrenn always had a hard time with all of our names. I mean, he knew your name; however, he would usually spew out 2 or 3 names before he said your name correctly. We used to tease him, and we would tell him that we were all going to get t-shirts with our names on the back. Well, one day, Dr. Wrenn was having one of those stressful days, and there was a gentleman he was supposed to meet (not a patient obviously), and the gentleman's last name was CORN. So, when Dr. Wrenn was introduced to Mr. Corn, he shook the gentleman's hand, and he said, "Hello, Mr. COBB." It was everything I could do to keep from laughing out loud. Dr. Wrenn always spoke very highly of Ann, David, Jenny, and Jeremy. He was so proud of his family, and with good reason. I remember a lot of his family's milestones, because he was so proud, and he shared those special moments with all of us. Dr. Wrenn was a great photographer, and I loved seeing all of his photographs from scuba diving. He had several of them hanging in his office. During his retirement he shared his beautiful wildlife photography. He had it, he had the touch, his photos are breathtaking. I was very saddened to hear of Dr. Wrenn's passing. My condolences to Ann, David, Jenny, and Jeremy. I know you are so proud of the legacy your husband/father has left behind. I will say to you, cherish the memories, because they are real, and they are good. When we lose a loved one, we never forget them, and we never want to forget them.
