Robert Wayne Urban
December 6th, 1960 - September 5th, 2020
December 6th, 1960 - September 5th, 2020
Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.
Robert Urban's passion in life was enjoying time with others. He loved to be around his friends and family and was usually the center of attention, especially when dancing or telling stories in such a way that made short stories very long. He loved his family and sacrificed for them every chance he had. Whether it was his heart and love for others, his sons and family, or his work accomplishments that supported the defense of the United States and our allies, Robert's legacy will last generations to come.
Robert lived most of his adult life in the Santa Ynez Valley in California. He commuted back and forth to Santa Barbara for three decades - driving Hwy 154 and 101 so many times he could do it with his eyes closed, though he usually did not.
Robert loved his wife, Chrystine, relentlessly. Rob and Chrystine both worked for Hughes California where they first met. They were married in Westchester, CA in 1984. A short time later, she gave him his first son. She was his princess and he reminded his children every day how they ought to treat their wives as princesses. Together, Rob and Chrystine raised their five sons. Rob loved his family, but he loved his wife first.
A hero to his five sons, Robert was a dedicated coach, camp counselor, homework helper, mission trip leader, therapist, unpaid labor boss, actual boss, boat driver, driving instructor, drinking buddy, golf partner, pastor, mechanic, adviser, provider, friend, giver of tough love and gentle love ... Dad. He loved all his children equally but he did not love them the same. He gave each of them the parts of himself they needed the most and helped them grow to become the men they are today; men who aspire to be as good a father to their children as he was to them. He reminded them to the day he died, "Don't make any dumb decisions."
Robert was proud of his accomplishments in his career. He was dedicated to doing his best for the people who worked for him, with him, and those he worked for. His work at Moog included some of his proudest accomplishments. Even though his contributions were cut short two years ago by his battle with cancer, he believed so strongly in the work they were doing that he longed to return to this work someday and thought about work often.
Rob's friends knew him as a fun-loving, light hearted man. He loved meeting up with friends to go wine tasting, boating, golfing, poker nights, bocci ball, barbecues, and backyard hangouts. He was happiest when he was with others making memories.
Robert faced his health struggles over the past two years with bravery and a faith in Jesus Christ that was only strengthened. He trusted God would bring him peace even in this hardship and he did. Robert gently departed this world to join his Savior in heaven on September 5, 2020 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by loved ones.
He was a good man whose legacy on this earth will be remembered by many. We will never know why God brought him home and away from this earth at such a young age, but we know Rob was at peace and his faith was strong. His final days were spent with those he loved and we will all remember him in our hearts as a loving husband, devout father, hard worker, true friend, and God's light on this earth.

Little Urb or Robert as you all may know him ,was a beloved Brother to 3 Sisters. Linda,Anita and Rhonda . He was our Angel, comfort in times of sadness. He brought me to GOD. We were the last 2 siblings, so we always got into trouble when we where young. We camped in the backyard as a family. Every year we would go on vacation to a Ho Jo somewhere. After our parents divorced he went to live with Dad. But we got together summers and when he was 12 my Mother moved us to Goldsboro N.C. I would say we hit the hippie generation ,due to our older sisters turning us on to Rock and Roll. One time we found these balloons in Dads drawer and filed them up with water and thru them at people going by. OOPS on both accounts. In his defense he was unbelievable smart, witty, and loved all his sisters dearly. I moved to Ca and got into punk,he moved to be with me so he moved to Ca. getting a great job. We hung out, went boating, camping, just hanging out. He is my HERO and in this New Year I can’t believe we lost an Angel. My love is endless and my life has changed forever. To be missed is not even an option in my mind. I have to say he was the greatest roll model and one of the loves of my life. Blessed be little brother, Nobody could ever guess what our lives were like. Your beloved Sister Rhonda
