Everyone's favorite teacher, storyteller and friend.

Proud husband, father and longtime educator, Robert "Chris" Millard entered fully into the presence of the Lord at the age of 81 on January 7, 2022.  Chris leaves behind his wife of 55 years Rose, their youngest daughter Laura, their grandchildren Samantha, Ashley, Elijah, Dacoda, Maxwell and Jordan, and their great grandchildren Roman and Penny.

Robert Millard known by many as "Chris" for his resemblance and personality to Chris Kringle was raised in Crescent City, CA where he developed a love for nature and a passion for education.  He attended Pacific Union College and later earned his bachelors and masters degree at Loma Linda University.

Chris met the love of his life, Rose, while attending Pacific Union College in 1962.  The two were married in 1966 and moved to Simi Valley, CA to begin a career in teaching.  They relocated to San Diego, CA in 1970 where he taught at San Diego Academy for 26 years and San Diego City Schools for 13 years.

Chris's faith was an essential part of his life.  He loved God, spent time mentoring young Christians and served in a variety of ministries including his many years as a full-time Christian school teacher, part-time pastor and active member of Southbay SDA Church.  He was also a frequent actor in the Living Christmas Tree at Skyline Weslyan Church.

An educator at heart, he was patient and kind, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem.  He impacted thousands of students by his generous life, a love for learning, and beliving the best of people.

His love, kindness, creativity, and constant encouragement, will be missed by all.

Mr. M was my 6th grade teacher. He made science exciting and fun. He challenged us and brought out our curiosity. My freshman year of high school I was his reader and janitor. I graded papers and cleaned his classroom to help pay my tuition. Over the years he always kept in touch with Christmas letters. I had the privilege of knowing him for 51 years. His youngest daughter was our flower girl. She is now a grandma. Every time we had a yard sale he would stop by and share how he could see God in his life. When I heard of his passing all I could think of is he will be with his precious Diana. He missed her so, but knew he would see her again. He was a Godly man, a caring father, a loving husband, & a wonderful grandpa/great-grandpa. At 81 he had a good run, but his smile and wit will truly be missed. He gave the best hugs, too.

Oh the memories I have are plentiful. Mr Millard was my our science teacher at San Diego Academy and often the teacher I went to when I needed guidance. He and his family attended the same church as my family (South Bay Seventh Day Adventist church). Often we would camp together, go on picnics as well as many other outings. Chris Millard was a genuinely good guy with a heart of gold. He lived a beautiful life and will always have a special place in my heart. RIIP Mr Chris Millard. Thank you for all joy you brought to my life and the lives of many others.

I first met Chris in 1983, in a church lobby. We talked non-stop for 3 hours, and that was only the initial meeting. He was fascinated with everything; animal, vegetable, or mineral. He loved to pass his fascinations on to everyone that he met. It was a good thing that computers came along, enabling us to talk long distance without going broke A person such as he is rare and hard to find. I miss him already
