Rev. Vance Eldon Reynolds  (1933-2022)

Vance went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022. He was surrounded by loved ones. We can only imagine the joy that filled his soul when he saw his Savior's face and was reunited with his beloved wife, Billie.

Born in Marmaduke, Arkansas on Nov 2, 1933, to Henry Alfred Reynolds and Mary Thompson Reynolds. Siblings: Leroy, Thurmon, Raymond, Denziel, Jan, and Margaret. They made their way from Arkansas to California in 1948. Vance gave his heart to God in 1952 and devoted his life to ministry, building, pioneering, and serving many Assemblies of God churches in the Northern California district.

Vance was a minister for the Assemblies of God Church for more than 60 years. He was licensed in 1958 and ordained in 1963. Vance was recognized in 2008 for 50 years of ministry. Together with his wife Billie, they pastored 14 different Assemblies of God churches before their retirement in 2009.

Having pastored many Home Missions churches, Vance also worked outside of his home and ministry. Many times while on the job, whether working on the Bay Bridge or in the sawmill or logging camp, he was still ministering and leading people to Christ. Then he would drive the long hours back home to do services. Vance would say that his mission field was always the ground he was standing on.

He was a beloved husband to his wife Billie Lou Reynolds who passed away in October 2021. They had been married for 69 years. Precious father to his 7 children; and loving grandfather to 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his life’s work of ministry, Vance enjoyed traveling. He also had a great love for farm animals, gardening and was especially fond of planting trees and watching them grow. In his 88 years of life, he planted many seeds of faith and tended to them daily. "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Matt. 25:23

Vance is survived by his children: Marilyn Allen and husband Mike, Ken Reynolds, Steve Reynolds, Sharon Triplett and husband Pete, Janelle Lee and husband Russ, and Tim Reynolds and wife Pamela. He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Lou Reynolds, daughter, Linda Miller, and son-in-law, Wes Miller.

Funeral services will be held at Cottonwood Assembly of God, 20404 GasPoint Rd in Cottonwood, Ca. on Friday, Feb 11 at 11:00 am.

Many, many fond memories of growing up with the Reynolds family. Too many to choose just one. I always remember it was a good time when the Lewis and Reynolds families got together, whether it was for a meal, or a church service, or a month long camping trip. Vance and my father (Bill) were a big part of those good times. They loved to have fun, laugh and joke around and they loved their families and they loved God. I can still hear Vance and my dad laughing and joking and just enjoying each other's company today. I'm glad they are together again and I look forward to joining them one day. Until then I will miss them both very much and enjoy the memories.
