Renee's Sister
Renee Simpson Faulkenberry
July 9th, 1966 - September 12th, 2020
July 9th, 1966 - September 12th, 2020
Forever in our heart and soul.
Cynthia Renee Simpson Faulkenberry, loving care giver and memory maker for all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Devoted wife to Joey Van Faulkenberry and loving mother to her son Reed, both of whom reside in Piedmont, SC. Renee was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church in Piedmont SC. Renee and Joey's marriage was magical and they were self-declared soul mates.
The youngest of 7 children, Renee is survived by her siblings Pat White (Marathon, IA), Mickey Simpson (Greer SC), Susan Bates (Gray Court SC), Wanda Thompson (Greenville SC), and Elizabeth Simpson (Norcross, GA). Preceding Renee in death are her oldest brother Archie Simpson (Charleston SC), her father Calvin E. Simpson and her mother Irene Skelton Simpson to whom she was devoted. Renee loved family and tried to never miss a family reunion.
Renee worked as Activity Director and Memory Care Advocate for over 20 years, bringing joy and meaning to the lives of many while making each and every day a day to celebrate. She had a gift for finding something special in everyone and adding elements of fun to even the most mundane task or activity. Renee’s God given talent was spreading joy, event planning, and helping others in numerous ways. Most recently, Renee worked at Waterstone on Augusta and Magnolia Place, Greenville SC. Renee made a point to attend the funerals of all her patients who passed and comforted their families. She spent many hours planning and coordinating celebrations for the elderly.
When Renee was not helping others, she loved relaxing outside enjoying nature, taking long walks, viewing the flowers and watching sunsets. She has a special attraction to the beauty in the astronomy and would rise early to catch meteor showers while never missing a splendid full moon. She loved rainbows and sunsets, beach trips and falling leaves, rain showers and sunny days. Renee had a knack for fashion and decorating and could make everything look beautiful and welcoming – which is how she made us all feel. Renee also believed ‘car rides by yourself with loud music’ is good for your soul.
To meet Renee was to fall in love. To love Renee was a gift. The youngest of 7, she was everyone’s baby. She will be missed greatly and remain in our hearts forever.

I had the priviledge of knowing Renee for a short time while at a very sweet little nursing home in Greenville. She loved the residents. I was looking through some old photos today and saw this one (see pic) and wondered what Renee might be doing these days. I was going to reach out and say hello. I had no idea she passed away. God bless Renee she was so kind. I will miss her very much.

Sweet Renee precedes us to the next step of our existence. Her fantastic and exuberant personality will linger in our memories longingly. Her remaining family and friends will cherish the moments she touched our lives. Let everyday be filled with joy like Renee's.

From the 1st moment I met her, I could see the love and joy in her heart. She was an awesome friend and I am so thankful that I got to work beside her for a little while. She was exciting to be around because she shared the love she felt and her energy was contagious. I loved her and I will miss her, but I will never forget her. RIP MY SWEET FRIEND❣

I'm in utter disbelief. We met and grew to love Renee at Waterstone as she ensured our Mom was cared for just as she would have (and had) cared for her own mother. She exuded joy, exemplified kindness and hospitality and made everyone she met feel special including my Mom. We quickly became friends. It was just weeks ago that we were making plans to go for a hike. I will always regret that we never got to do that. ------------------------------------------------------- To Renee's family and friends... May you allow the wild beauty of the invisible world to gather you, mind you, and embrace you in belonging. May you sense around you the secret Elsewhere where the presences that have left you dwell. That absence is always alive with hidden presence. May the Angel of Healing turn your wounds into sources of refreshment. As Spring gently softens the Earth, May your Winter places be kissed by Light. - "Bless the Space Between Us" - John O'Donohue Holding you in our hearts, - David and Dana Longley
