Raquel Carlos Huen

Raquel Carlos Huen passed away on July 10, 2020 surrounded by family, after a long and difficult journey with Leukemia. Born in Hong Kong August 23,1968, Raquel was in her 51st year. Beloved wife of Lawrence Kwan, together for 26 years. Loving mother of Anthony and Braeden. She will be missed by her husband and sons, sister Anita (Kenneth) and her mother Siu Ping. She is predeceased by her father Hung Kong Huen.Raquel was very close to her family, and was well-loved by her aunties, Teresa and Antonia, sisters-in-law Susan (Roland), Sylvine, brother-in-law Warren (Sally) nieces and nephews, Trevor, Emily, Valerie, Charmaine, and Alana.

Raquel loved her family and was a dedicated mother. She enjoyed Dim Sum with family and friends, travel and cruise vacations, and watching k-drama.

She was educated at The Chinese University of Hong Kong receiving her First Honours Bachelor degree in English and Comparative Literature, and spent her early career as an account executive for a major advertising firm. She went on to help in the start-up of her brother-in-law's dental practice and work as manager for her husband's medical practice. Raquel spent time volunteering at Sunnybrook Hospital, and her children's school when they were young.

Raquel was a dynamic personality who loved helping others at every opportunity. We will miss her guidance, sense of responsibility, and the frequent phone calls letting us know something needed to be done. Her voice may be gone, but she will always be in our hearts and minds, showing us the way.

A Private Funeral Service to take place on Monday July 20, 2020 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Elgin Mills Funeral Centre, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9. To be immediately followed by burial. Donations can be made in Raquel's name to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
