"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" Psalm 119:105 .........Rachels favorite verse in the Bible

Rachel Mackenzie Andrews was born in 1995, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and she radiated warmth and inspiration until the day she left this world in October 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Rachel spent the majority of her life as a central Californian, attending Christian School, then homeschooled through high school. Life as a homeschooler allowed this once shy girl to flourish and grow into a beautiful, highly intelligent teen. Her journey was marked by the deep connections she forged and her unwavering spirit in the face of life's adversities. While Cystic Fibrosis may have defined Rachel’s physical capabilities, she employed a firey determination to soar above her circumstances during her time here.

At the young age of 15, Rachel embarked on her most significant adventure: becoming a Book Blogger. Her website, RachelsBookReviews, showcased her passion for literature and her unique voice. Over nearly a decade, she meticulously designed and developed the site, captivating readers with her insightful reviews and analyses. Her presence in the book industry was widely recognized; she attended numerous national conventions where she engaged in vibrant discussions with authors, publishers, and fellow bloggers, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Rachel graduated with honors from Taft Community College in Taft, California, in 2020, earning her Associate's Degree in Art. It was there that she met Nic, her boyfriend of 6 years, and confidant, with whom she shared a profound connection rooted in a mutual love for art, literature, and gaming. Together, they engaged in countless intellectual conversations that reflected their curious minds and appreciation for the complexities of life. Rachel and Nic shared a rare and undeniable heart connection.

Rachel's personality was a blend of kindness, humor, and courage. She had a penchant for dad jokes, often brightening the days of those around her with her laughter. In her battle against chronic illness, Rachel exhibited a bravery that inspired those in her life to confront their struggles with resilience and grace. She possessed a gift for extracting truth from the spoils of life, and encouraged others to stand firmly in their convictions.

Beyond her blogging, Rachel's creativity flourished in the kitchen, where she approached cooking as a form of art; an art she learned from her mother. This passion was evident in the delectable meals she prepared and shared with family and friends. Surrounded by thousands of novels at home, Rachel delighted in reading, effortlessly cultivating adventure from fictional stories that leapt to life from the page. Rachel was always hungry for the satisfaction and escape that literary fantasy provided.

Rachel is survived by her loving family: her father, Todd Andrews; her mother, Brenda Andrews; her sister, Olivia Andrews; along with her aunts and uncles, Brad and Connie Andrews, Scott and Vicki Andrews, Tim and Lori Bosecker, and Debbie Rundell, along with their children. Although her physical presence may no longer grace this world, the legacy of her impact—rooted in kindness, creativity, and resilience—will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Rachel's life will be held in the Spring of 2026, with details to be announced. In her memory, may we all strive to embody her kindness, humor, and bravery, reminding ourselves to appreciate the beauty found in God’s creation, the written word, and the lives we touch. In honoring Rachel, we remember a remarkable individual who faced life's challenges with courage and a heart full of love. May her spirit live on in the stories she shared, the lives she touched, and the laughter she spread, reminding us all to embrace life with humility and bravery.

The first thing I can remember about Rachel is her wonderful, kind smile. Then it was blue hair and a bag or multiple bags filled with books to read. We bonded during a book convention and soon she would have an open invitation to work any publishing booth for any con or conference where ever I wound up. She had this wonderful joy that made life that much better when she was in the room. We spent a lot of time talking about the world of books-which is really no surprise. Rachel, I am glad you were a part of my life. You always will be.

We were graced with meeting Rachel when her and our son Nick met at Taft College in art class. They became close and started spending all their time together and eventually became a couple. She was a wonderful influence on our son. She was caring, loving, and supportive. I remember the first time she came over to our house and Rachel was showing Nick some painting techniques. They were so cute sitting on the raised deck in backyard with art supplies everywhere laughing with each other. It brought so much joy to see them so enamored with each other. Rachel was such an amazing artist and had an amazing sense of humor. She was a bright light that will be greatly missed by all.
