Paul George Pokatello, 68, passed away at his home in Sun Lakes, Arizona on December 2, 2019, after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Avice "Sue" and John Pokatello, Paul graduated from North Royalton High School in 1969, where he was Class President; and attended the University of Akron.

Paul was a professional land surveyor, licensed in Arizona, Ohio, and Illinois. After beginning his career in Ohio, Paul spent 2 years working in Saudi Arabia, then moved to Arizona in 1984. Working for various consulting firms throughout the years, he focused on the planning and developing of major planned communities in the Phoenix Metro area for almost 30 years.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Avice and John Pokatello. Those left to honor his memory include: daughters Tai Summers, Kelsey Pokatello, and their mother Donita Pokatello; brother and wife John "Pat" & Mary Pokatello; brother and wife Phil & Kathy Pokatello; nieces Jennifer Ellis & Melissa Grahl, nephews Jason Pokatello & Michael Pokatello, and their spouses & children.

Paul was an avid baseball fan, rooting for his Cleveland Indians and Arizona Diamondbacks. One of his most treasured memories was attending Game 7 of the 2001 World Series with his daughter Tai, and seeing Gonzo's bottom-of-the-ninth hit to win the series for the Diamondbacks.

Paul was a lover of animals, nature, and astronomy, and was a longtime member of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. He was also passionate about music, specifically classical and classic rock. He enjoyed attending shows and concerts, and loved traveling.

An Arizona Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, February 16, 2020; location and time will be announced at a later date. An Ohio Celebration of Life will take place spring of 2020; details will be announced when determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Paul's name to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum or a local animal shelter of your choice.

Pablo was a mentor, great friend and survey guru. You left me too soon brother. I had so many survey questions left to ask you. One day I will earn my Arizona RLS and be sure to dedicate my achievement to you. I wish you eternal peace bro and be sure to check in with us from time to time.
