Mementos

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Benson, who left us far too soon on July 29, 2026, at the age of 39.

Paul lived life at full volume, bringing passion, kindness, and unforgettable energy to everyone he met. As a talented audio and production engineer, he was happiest running shows, attending concerts, and immersing himself in the heavy metal music he loved so deeply. He proudly devoted much of his time and talent to Club Red, shaping countless nights of music and community. Outside of the venue, Paul brought that same intense creativity and love into the kitchen, sharing his immense passion for cooking and food with those around him.

Paul possessed a rare and generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was particularly dedicated to supporting local talent—mentoring aspiring musicians and doing whatever it took to help others succeed both on and off the stage.

He was a legendary big brother to his sister, Allison, who meant the world to him, supporting her with unwavering love throughout his life. His legacy of generosity, music, and mentorship will be forever cherished by his devoted wife, Shalyse; his loving mother, Carolyn; his sister, Allison; and his nieces, Audrey and Emma, who brought him immense pride and joy.

A celebration of Paul’s life—and a final send-off worthy of his love for music—will be held at 12:00 p.m. on August 22nd at the El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium, 552 N. 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008. In true alignment with how Paul lived his life, he requested that everyone feel welcome to wear band shirts and shorts to the service.

In honor of his passion for helping others, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to his GoFundMe (gofund.me/e74414648) or to Keep Children Rockin', a charity close to his heart.
