Loved Ones

Note from Andrea, her daughter: This was written, rewritten, lost, & then slapped together to get something up. This is such a short clip of a full and mostly wonderful life, that deserves a more thorough bio, but this was all I could do at first. I promise to add more as I am able throughout this coming year, and hope to have the celebration of life party on her birthday in 2021, Covid permitting.

                       __________

Patricia Ramos' unique and precious spirit left her body on Tueaday, October 6th, 2020.  She is survived by her beloved & devoted husband Ron, loving and perpetually procrastinating daughter Andrea, her beautiful and gracious sister "Cookie" Joyce Peterson (& her husband Glen), their children & spouses Jan Lawson (and hubby Greg), Eric Peterson (& Amy).  She has many cousins from both her parents' families, Isobel Schroeder Steury & Bob Steury.

She was an ESL teacher the last ten years of her working life, and considered all of her students "her kids". She loved her last job and was sad to leave it, just over 10 years ago.  Shortly after retirement, she decided to have knee repacement surgery (one already replaced), and discovered she was suffering from Kidney Disease, during pre-surgery testing.  Less than a year later she went on dialysis, and had another ten, mostly pleasant, years with her family.

Patt Gibbs

Pat and I were friends shortly before we both graduated from Central. We reconnected in Dallas after she moved to TX. I was then a Flight Attendant for American Airlines. We remained close friends until the mid 70’s. I remember how excited she was when she got pregnant with Andrea and how proud she was showing Andrea to everyone of us after she was born and insisting we would be her babysitters! My siblings were on the circus most of the time but when they were off for the season and in Dallas, Pat regularly visited all of us. We remained friends until I took on a more involved leadership role in my Union (APFA) and moved closer to DFW airport. Pat was always willing to listen to my childish complaints about our sorority when I was in college in Springfield before I left to become a flight attendant. She was all look ways a good listener and a very fun person willing to do anything for her friends (including loaning them money!) we lost touch after I moved to Irving. A few years ago we did get to talk on the phone after I went to law school in California. I was sad to hear she was unable to travel because of her health. She was always concerned about Andrea’s future but believed she would be okay because of her husband Ron’s love for Pat. I am sorry about her death but I know she would rather have a party to celebrate her life rather than a wake!

The work years are approximate guesses. Please let me know actual dates & I will work on getting correct info, but it would not save her jobs without start and end years.
