Norris Anselmn Baptista

I first met Norris and his lovely family in the early 70s, when I transited from the Airforce to Air India. Ever since, a genuine friendship developed over the years. Norris was very knowledgeable and conversant with the functioning of Air India and most helpful to one and all. On June 22, 1982, I had a major accident while coming in to land at Bombay during a severe thunderstorm. The judicial enquiry blamed me for the accident and made me the scapegoat. Norris, due to his goodwill and personal contacts, rendered valuable assistance during this calamity for which I am ever grateful. Norris served Air India with true dedication, honesty and perseverance, even after retirement. He was constantly approaching the Civil Aviation ministry and concerned authorities giving suggestions and ideas to improve the efficacy of the airline. Such dedication and devotion to duty after retirement is laudable and extremely rare. The family, friends and Air India have lost a rare breed of mankind. May his soul forever Rest In Peace.
