I was searching the web and found this. What a wonderful and loving person she was. I wouldn't have become a registered nurse and had the life I have without her.She saved me. Rest in heaven my beautiful friend.

Each morning when we awake we know that you are gone. And no one knows the heartache As we try to carry on. Our hearts still ache with sadness and many tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, No one will ever know. Our thoughts are always with you, your place no one can fill. In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still. There will always be a heartache, and often a silent tear, But always a precious memory Of the days when you were here. If tears could make a staircase, And heartaches make a lane, We'd walk the path to heaven And bring you home again. We hold you close within our hearts, And there you will remain, To walk with us throughout our lives Until we meet again. Our family chain is broken now, And nothing will be the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

Mother Myrtle Rhoden will truly be missed. As an prolific educator by profession she carried that same passion in assuring that those in the Body of Christ were equipped with the Word of God. She believed that knowledge was power therefore she consistently passed out literature to ensure that we would have the tools needed to secure us into a safe place in our christain walk with Christ by understanding the written Word of God. She stood firmly but gracefully upon the godly principles that she was so eager to share and pass down to the next generations. May the wisdom & knowledge that she taught us all continue to help us to navigate through this thing called life. Mother you smiles & hugs shall be greatly missed. Farewell

As I searched the Internet trying to find Mrs. Rhoden I now see she has since passed. What a wonderful woman. Mrs. Rhoden at a moments notice helped get me enrolled at NCE in the early 70s. Her support is the reason I made it this far. I have had a wonderful career in education, retire in 2012 from a 40 year teaching career. Now, ironically, I teach and mentor future teachers at National Louis University. I wish she could have known all of this. I know her family loved her and can be so proud of her accomplishments.

Poem -Title: " In Her Smile" when I think of Myrtle Rhoden; What do I see. Always her smile; Looking at me. The counselor, the teacher, my confidante; But yet we kept Jesus far in the front. When I think of Myrtle Rhoden spiritual and wise; A strong woman, a bold woman who smiled with her eyes. I can smile right back for the times that we had; Just knowing Myrtle Rhoden made me glad. Sleep on my good friend. I love you. Diana Brooks Armwood

Farewell by Rabindranath Tagore I have got my leave. Bid me farewell, my brothers! I bow to you all and take my departure. Here I give back the keys of my door ---and I give up all claims to my house. I only ask for last kind words from you. We were neighbors for long, but I received more than I could give. Now the day has dawned and the lamp that lit my dark corner is out. A summons has come and I am ready for my journey.
