Mona Heath (McGehee), born in October of 1950 in Gadsden, Alabama, was the daughter of the late Shirley McGehee, Jr. and Mildred McPherson McGehee. She went to Gadsden High School and graduated from Jacksonville State University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English. For many years she worked for the state of Alabama’s ADECA program.
She loved reading, antiques, and most of all, her dogs.
Living most of her life in Montgomery, Alabama, she passed away on December 22, 2022. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Potter (Matt), and two grandsons, of Los Angeles, CA, her brother Kevan McGehee (Aleece) of Southside, AL, and niece Elizabeth Mixon (Levi) and their three children, of Vestavia Hills, AL.
In death, may she find the peace and joy that seemed so out of reach during her life. For those that knew her and want to support, please consider donating to the Montgomery Humane Society.

her kids have said for yrs that me and my family were not her family that's a LIE we were THE ONLY family she had she said it herself we were there for her all the time 24/7 365 when NOBODY else was cause nobody else cared well we did we checked on her all the time going to her house and she called us everyday we WERE HER ONLY FAMILY PERIOD cause her kids didn't care about her one bit she told us that we loved Mona with all of our hearts and soul's she knew how amazing we were to her we all miss her terribly and will forever don't believe anything anybody says it's not true my family was her family and we treated her with all the love in the world I love you Mona I miss you more than u will ever know u always made me laugh and put a smile on my face I loved u and ur dogs I enjoyed hanging out with you at ur house and talking on the phone we always had amazing times with you can't wait until we R reunited with you again,with love from your REAL FAMILY also Mona did SO MUCH for me and my family she was always there for us and WE WERE ALWAYS THERE FOR HER ALWAYS no matter what...when me and my grandmother found out she had passed we told them that mona told us that if something happened to her she didn't want her daughter and brother finding out but of course they told them anyway SMH

Mona was like my adopted grandmother she always did for me and my folks no matter what it was she was always there for us I miss her terribly I miss hanging out with her at her house miss our talks she was a wonderful person I loved Mona deeply miss her everyday,love u mona
