Psalm 103:1-8 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit…

Miriam “Mim” Lucille Sweigart, 94, went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2026. She was a resident of Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas.

Miriam was born on January 29th, 1932 in Swedesburg , Iowa to Earl and Mary (Roth) Swartzendruber. She married Marvin Ray Sweigart on August 20, 1950. They shared almost 67 years of marriage.

Miriam is survived by her children, Randy (Elaine) of Frankenmuth, MI; Cindy Cooprider of Hesston, KS; Tim (Mary Jean) of Hesston, KS; Mary Morrissett of Newton, KS; Mark (Katy) of Surprise,AZ; 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Marvin along with parents, oldest sister, oldest brother, one grandson and one great-grandson.

She met the love of her life, Marvin, while attending Hesston Academy & College. They started their lives together as farmers for 10 years in Oklahoma and Iowa before moving to Saginaw, Michigan. They pastored multiple congregations and small groups, leading thousands to a personal relationship with Christ. She also obtained a degree in early education, serving both the Saginaw Public School System and Bangor Township Schools for nearly 30 years. In 1992, she  and Marvin co-founded Saginaw Valley Community Church where she served for 12 years.  For the past 14 years, she lived near Holden, Missouri, where she participated in a ministry dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and freedom through Christ to those who were hurting and broken.

Miriam will be most remembered not for what she did, but for who she was as a person. She had such a servant’s heart and cared deeply for people to find freedom in Jesus. She was a prayer warrior and a spiritual giant. She had a thirst for God’s Word and knew the Bible from cover to cover. She had a particular love for the Song of Solomon and is now face to face with the King of Kings.

She cherished family time, reading aloud books such as Laura Ingalls Wilder, playing piano and singing hymns together, orchestrating family vacations and playing card games. Miriam loved having people over for meals and was known for her cooking and baking skills particularly “CiniMim’s” cinnamon rolls.

Countless people found encouragement, wisdom, and prayer through Miriam’s faithful walk with the Lord.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Good Shepard Hospice and members of the Schowalter Villa staff for their kind support and care.

Grandma Mim was always a joy to be around. She had a special way of making everyone feel so loved and cared for. I will never forget all the times we got to spend the night at Grandma and Grandpas house and how much fun it was to be with them. Grandpa always made sure the pool was clean and ready for us to swim in the summer time as well as stocking the freezer with ice cream treats from the Schwann man, Grandma taught us how to make her cinnamim rolls and made us 5-star breakfasts in the mornings. They played card games with us and watched movies, there was never a dull moment they always made time for us. Every holiday was also a special occasion at their house she would work so hard on cooking for her entire family and decorating the house. We always tried to write down her recipes to recreate but they consisted of “a little bit of this, and a pinch of that” and a whole lot of love. Our recreations will just never taste the same as Grandma’s version. I think we could all write a novel about our fond memories of her and still not quite put into words all that she meant to us. I will forever be grateful to have had her as my grandma to have been loved by her and I can’t wait to see her and hug her someday once again.

A woman with considerable influence in my faith - scripture and blessings were intertwined in ever conversation had with Grandma Mim. I first met Mim right before my first official date with Ken Frey. She was visiting the family and was talking on the phone with a dear friend or family member. As I walked in the door, I heard her say “Oh Ken’s SPECIAL FRIEND has arrived.” Since that first meeting, I was welcomed and a connection built. Fast forward about 20 years later, when they moved to Missouri…the connection was strengthened as our conversations were more frequent. Being encouraged by her sacrificial life - a mom to 5, a pastor’s wife, and a mentor to many (many who the world pushed away-but her arms welcomed, held tight, and wrapped in God’s mercy, grace, and love).

Mom was like a grandma to me. She always accepted me with loving open arms when I was around her. She loved the Lord and people. Heaven definitely gained an angel.

My mom had many gifts and talents but above all she had a servants heart. She was always the hostess with the mostest. She had a genuine love for people and wanted all to feel welcomed and know the Love,Grace and Mercy of the Father. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and continuously spent time in the Word and prayer. She had many titles; wife, mom, child, pastor, choir director, storyteller, teacher, principal, cook, baker, camp ground cook and organizer, flower lover and many more. It above all she was passionate about Jesus. Some of her most favorite Scripture include: Psalms 23, 28, 32, 39, 51, 103, 109. Song of Solomon Ephesians 1:16-to end Ephesians 3 Revelations She told me recently that she had great interest in reading Bible as a young girl. She was further encouraged to do so through a Bible reading club by mail. She could earn books by reading and memorizing Bible verses. At school recess she went out in back of the school on a hill to read. She was around 10 years old at the time. Her Aunt Salina also had a huge impact on her thirst for Scripture by having a large set of verses printed out on card stock to memorize each day. Mom for just being you! I love you and miss you!

Wow! Mim finished the race to receive her reward!! And what a reward she has found as she ran it so very well!! Though we all do mourn with your family, we also rejoice that she is in The Lords presence and with her first love and has no sorrow, pain not tears but only rejoicing and singing and praising the one her heart was always after. Mim was certainly one of a kind! Last night we were sharing with some new friends all about “Mimster” as I called her. She referred to herself to me as My favorite pain in the rear (as if she could ever be a pain in the rear to anyone.) She loves to kid around and just the other day I was just remembering her cute giggle and that look when she would “get into trouble” (ya know like walk without her walker and wink at you and give up that sweet wink and giggle and laugh.) Always a kidder and so full of love and always happy to see me (everyone for that matter felt loved and special when they get to see Mim). Last night I asked this couple “do you like cinnamon rolls”? Well it was a lead in to brag on Mims National prize winning yummy delicious rolls. And whoda thought that a roast could be better than anything ya ever did eat?! Hers certainly was!! I also was reflecting on how sweet her voice was as I sat in our praise and worship I looked with my spiritual eyes and could see her sitting in her spot and with all she had singing from her heart who loves Jesus more than anything. I was also blessed to sit under her along with 20 or so people every week as she read the entire book “The Bride”. She was a beautiful story teller and read it with such perfect passion and expression. Thank you for this opportunity to tell a little about how Mim touched my life. Thank you Mim for your life of love that you poured out on me. Your my beautiful friend and sister in Christ Yeshua forever! See ya “soon”! Love your brother Ed Holliday ❤️🙌✝️. (See her teaching our household to make cinnamon rolls in the video and picture below)

How did you meet Miriam?

I met Mim walking through the door the first time at SVCC. Her immediate smile and warmth was unlike anything I had ever encountered before . It was so genuine. I immediately felt I belonged though at the time, I wasn't sure what that even meant . She gave me a spiritual purpose to find Christ and know more of him. Without her encounter, I'm not sure going to church would have even been a consideration for me. We renewed wedding vows together with her and Marv, what an event that was..lol And I eagerly attended her Bible study at her home in Saginaw. She always made me feel like one of her very dear friends.
