I knew Michael from a time before Chris….devastated to find out about his passing. I had always believed that when we were old and grey we would reconnect and share the adventures we had through the years. I do believe he would have had far more stories than myself and sorry that I will no longer have that opportunity. Michael, thank you for open my eyes up to world and helping me a bit less naive. I do love and miss you!

Even though I only spent time with Michael in our group that one summer in Russia, he left a definite, positive impression on me. I distinctly remember him sitting in at the kitchen table in the Moscow dorms crocheting. I thought it was a cool hobby. Then looking at his social media all these years later, I see that he had a crocheting business! It was great to see that he turned a passion and talent into a company. Not everyone has the determination to do that or thr talent to create a great product. I also remember talking to Michael on the overnight train from Saint Petersburg to Moscow. I said something like, "Michael, you're so sweet." He quickly responded with a cute smile, "I know." We both laughed, and I never forgot this sweet, quick-witted, interesting guy from my summer in Russia. Rest in peace, Michael.

One of favorite memories ever! We were doing a Golden Ring tour outside of Moscow in 2005. We spent time at the cucumber festival in Suzdal and then a massive storm hit. There weren’t many places to go so we tried to rush into a local museum. Chris caught us in the middle of the wind and this picture shows everyone’s personalities so perfectly in one picture

Cras is what sticks from our short experience together, but he was a dynamic person. His art twisted my mind; his no-bullshit attitude was invigorating; his coy smile was infectious. I'm sad I didn't take more time to learn from him, but I recognize his force and presence will be a lasting legacy. Oh, and that long-hair look: eta jarka

Mischa, where to begin? I wouldn't be the person I am today without you. When we met in Russia so many years ago, I was the epitome of a sheltered person. To me, you were fearless, completely yourself, and moved through life effortlessly. I know that wasn't the case, but to me, you shattered many preconceived ideas of how I should be and act. I loved how whenever I got moody on that trip, you completely understood and poked at it with your wit and sass. I'll cherish the times we got to spend together - whether in Russia, Austin, or New York. I'm going to miss you, Mischa, but will keep things contemptuous, sarcastic, and kind in your honor.
