Mementos

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Michael John Argibay, age 23, of Glen Mills, PA, our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend tragically passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Those who knew Michael, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. He was funny, vivacious, had a great sense of humor and there was nothing better than to be enveloped in one of his huge bear hugs! We will always remember his infectious smile, contagious laugh and caring personality. Michael was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He loved his siblings deeply and had a unique and impenetrable bond with his sister, Christine. His three nephews, two of whom were his Godsons, were the lights of his life. He adored them and they couldn't get enough of him! Being an uncle, whether reading, dancing or chasing them around the playground brought him endless joy. Michael or "Hubs" as his friends affectionately called him, had a passion for golf and music, was an avid sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of all the Philadelphia area professional sports teams. Michael graduated with honors from Garnet Valley High School, class of 2016. He competed on the golf team, was co-captain in 2015 and was a member of the Varsity Club. He was also in the Spanish honor society achieving his goal of fluency in 4 years. Speaking Spanish - an ode to his paternal heritage - gave him the opportunity to bridge gaps and connect with those he wouldn't have been able to speak with otherwise. After much debate, he chose to attend Arizona State University where he was invited to participate in their Leadership program. Although he was currently on sabbatical, he had been pursuing a degree in International Business. Michael always enjoyed learning new things and thanks to the guidance and support of his best friend, Graham Ketrick, he became a quick study as a plumber's apprentice following in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather. When you think of Michael, remember the good times. Life can be fragile and short so live each day to the fullest and do it without regrets. Michael was preceded in death by his father, John Argibay, his grandparents William T. Mahoney, Juan and Aurora Argibay and long-time best friend Dan Santamarina. He leaves behind his mother, Linda Mahoney, sisters Lauren Schlichter and Christine Phibin, Christine's husband, Patrick, brother, John Argibay, three nephews Wesley Melkonian, Oliver and Henry Philbin, his grandmother, Irene Mahoney and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We love and miss you so much, my son, my "Mushka", my best guy in the whole world. You will remain in our hearts forever. XOXO In Michael's memory, please consider a contribution to the Michael Argibay Memorial Fund which is being established in support of mental health and substance abuse programs.

From Uncle Jim and Aunt Jane Weigley - Michael, it is still so hard to accept that you are no longer with us, on earth. It seems like yesterday when I visited you in the hospital on the day of your birth. Your visit to Chevy Chase with Andrew is still a happy memory. We always enjoyed seeing you at the annual family gatherings... Easter at your grandmother's house, the second day after Christmas with the Trautmann's and visits to our house. We will never forget your big kind heart and huge smile... especially around Wesley, Oliver and Henry. Life can be cruel and not always understood... but, we are blessed to have known you and know you are in a good place. God bless you and we will always love you.

I first met Michael as a little boy of about 6 years old. I remember how adorable he was, and thinking he looked just like his mom. He loved being funny and knew he was entertaining. He always had a great smile and it didn't take long to figure out how incredibly intelligent he was

Miguel was a pleasure to have in my Spanish class. He loved Spanish and it always seemed to come easy to him. I remember him and his friends always coming in during enhancement and they always made me laugh. ❤️
