Miari Peterson
July 19th, 1967 - October 10th, 2021
July 19th, 1967 - October 10th, 2021
Forgive and be forgiven.
Florence "Miari" Peterson, formerly of Imperial Beach, California, passed away unexpectedly on October 10th, 2021 at her home in Springdale, Arkansas. She was an Aunt, Sister and proud Dog Mom. Miari was an avid lover of animals, especially her beloved surviving little Yorkshire Terrier, "Bling Bling". She was a country girl at heart but loved the ocean and beach. Miari was an I.B. OG surfer girl back in the day. She enjoyed horses, music and singing. Miari was an accomplished musician and very talented artist whose album, "L.O.V.E. Positively Love", reached the Billboards. She is also featured on Christina Aguilera's "My Kind of Christmas" album as a back up vocalist. Miari's music can be found on popular music platforms. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed, but her legacy lives on through her music. Miari is survived by her significant other and life partner of over 20 years, Tom Jacobson, of Springdale, Arkansas as well as her previously mentioned fur baby "Bling Bling". Miari leaves behind her brother, Knute Peterson, of Imperial Beach, her "Mom" Cheryl Peterson as well as the following family members: Nephew, Zachary Peterson of San Angelo, Texas. Nieces, Kaitlyn and Grace of San Diego. Great Nieces Olivia Peterson, Elliot Spalding and Great Nephew Leonardo Hernandez. Relatives who went on before Miari were her mother, Kayoko "Bachan" Jones and step-father, Jack Jones, both of Henderson, Nevada and her father, Carl Peterson of Mount Vernon, Washington. A Memorial will be held at the Fleet Reserve in Imperial Beach on Saturday, December 11th, from 1-4pm. 659 Silver Strand Blvd. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life and finally, a brief Honor Ceremony at the beach that she loved (a short walk) where balloons with personal messages attached will be released. Friends and family planning to attend that have questions can call or text Knute Peterson at 619-339-8428. Food will be provided. Those wishing to bring flowers are encouraged to choose red roses. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in Miari's memory to an animal shelter of your choosing.

I was good friends with Miari from fourth fifth and sixth grade at central elementary. She is a beautiful friend very kind. We would stay the night over to her house at times. I got to see her perform in later years and sing. I think it was an Olivia Newton-John song that she sang, and her song just gave me chills from head to toe. I’m so sorry to hear her life has been cut short, but she lived large through her beautiful voice and kindness.
