Merv passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Saturday morning after enjoying a night out with his wife Lisa, family and close friends. Merv touched us all with his generous and caring spirit. We are all richer because our paths crossed with his. He will be missed by us all.

Just found out this devastating news. There are no words. Merv could have searched the entire world and would never have found anyone as devoted and loving as you Lisa. We are so sorry for you, Ellani and Andrew xx

I first met Merv back in 2014, he was a remarkable bloke that always left you feeling positive. We stayed in touch, and the longer you knew him you realised he was more than the best workmate you could ask for, he was a wonderful, caring human being. Thank you mate for the conversations, laughter and all the lessons. There are many people’s lives you’ve literally saved, so I guess that makes you a real hero, maybe that’s why this one cuts a little deeper. Thank you to Mervs family for sharing him with us, sending love and light to carry you through. In the end there’s only one word for you. Irreplaceable. RIP mate. ♥️ you.

Sincere condolences to Lisa and family on the untimely loss of Merv. I only came to know Merv in recent years after he joined the Beach HSE team in the Cooper Basin, Such a lovely soul and a pleasure to work with - always friendly, helpful, responsive and keen to find out more about the local flora and fauna and how to help manage the local environment. He was a great asset and always had a positive attitude, even when we were dealing with incidents. I know he was well liked by his Cooper Basin 'field family' and I always enjoyed catching up with Merv for a chat when I was visiting the field. I will miss his cheery disposition and professionalism. Rest in peace Merv
