Memorial

Mementos

It is with great sadness that we share the recent passing of Maryann Shaw.  She died with family after a short period of declining health.

Maryann was born in Webster, Mass, to Walter and Pauline Burzycki. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara and nephews, Bennett, Bruce and Brad.

After graduating from high school in Webster she met and married Ronald Shaw of Oxford Massachusetts. In addition to dedicating her time to family, Maryann worked as a waitress and banquet manager for several years.  In later years, she cared for her aging mother and enjoyed babysitting for her niece and nephews, Heather, James and Matt. For many years she was a fixture of the Wash Tub Laundromat in Dudley where she was a friend to all and deeply loved the community. Most recently, she has enjoyed living with her son Travis and his family in Maine. Family and friends were of central importance to her throughout her life.

Children were her passion and there was no more loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She also enjoyed her pets, reading and cooking.  Her sweet tooth was legendary, and the kitchen was rarely without fresh cookies or banana bread.

She leaves behind a son, Travis Shaw, daughter in-law Wendy, 2 grandchildren, McKenzie and Carter and a niece, Heidi.

A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Webster Massachusetts on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00am.  Following the service will be a celebration of life at the local TSKK club also in Webster.   In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local library or the future Mary’s Library, which will provide free books for children at the Wash Tub Laundromat.

Met Mary at the Wash Tub. We became good friends and chatted often. She was a great listener. Took her to lunch on a few occasions, and stopped to buy a bottle of wine. Loved and admired her so much. Miss you Mary❤️🍷

I had met Mary at then Wash Tub a few years ago and always went back there just to see and talk with Mary. We had become close enough to talk about all kinds of things including family. She intrusted me to give her rides to places but I kept a small stool in my truck because it was to high for her. I had lost my mom the year before I met Mary and you can say Mary helped me through it by just being herself. Thank you again Mary for being a positive part of my life. Love you and miss you
