Recuerdos

God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away, And although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hardworking hands at rest. You toiled hard, Dad. Now may you rest in peace. We are proud you are ours. One of the best, you were a great man.

Hon. Mario Hernandez Mutiangpili, age 66, a resident and the former barangay captain of Katwiran 2, Baco, Oriental Mindoro died last March 07, 2021 (Sunday).

He was born on August 29, 1954 (Sunday) and was the 2nd eldest son out of 9 children of Vicente Mutiangpili and Balbina Mutiangpili. He once belong to a poor family, a reason why he strived hard to reach his goals in life.

He went to Katwiran 1 Elementary School and Oriental Mindoro National High School. He graduated a degree of Associate of Nautical Science in Manila when he was 18 and later on, passed several board exams to make his way to become a captain of a ship in Stockholm, Sweden. He traveled around the world and was able to support financially to some of his siblings who were studying.

He later on married Vivian Martinez (22 at that time) at the age of 33 on February 27, 1988 (Saturday). They were not able to make their own child and so, they helped other children to study and stay at their home for years (these were Emerlyn and Aleli).

Once he reached 40, he retired from being a captain to focus on his family life. At the age of 45, he and his wife decided to fully adopt a baby named Via Marie and treat as their own. He supported his child all the way in her school activities. He was a consistent parent officer in her classes and make sure to drive his child back and forth from the school every day.

They were living a very peaceful life until at the age of 59, he entered politics and ran for barangay chairman wherein he won. He served his barangay (Katwiran 2, Baco) for almost 8 years and had been busy taking progress each year. Everybody were grateful of his dedication to serve as he was hardworking. They didn't elect another chairman to let him continue until his end term because he was mostly the person they preferred in the position.

He is the "Papa" of all his nephews and nieces, grandsons and granddaughters, the best "De" for his only child and best "Nong" for his wife. He is a good brother to his siblings, a good son to his parents, and a friend to all. They all loved him very much. He will never be forgotten. His teachings and "jokes" will always be remembered. His presence will be missed and he will always be in their hearts.

The family were thankful for the help of St. Peter Memorial Service and GreenPark Memorial Garden. To all those who sent flower bouquets and went during his funeral, thank you. May he rest in peace and be with the Lord.
