November 11th, 1932 - September 20th, 2022
November 11th, 1932 - September 20th, 2022
Margaret Joan Baker ("Meg"), born on 11 November 1932, passed away on September 20, 2022. She grew up in Butterworth, Transkei, on a family farm and matriculated at Kaffrarian High School in King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape. During this time she played first team tennis and hockey and was Head Girl in matric. She went on to study nursing at Addington Hospital in Durban and Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. At the age of 25, she lost her own mother after having nursed her when she was bedridden. A few months later, on the 4 January 1958, she married Ken and they went on to have four children, Linda, Peter, Tracey and Glen, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Meg worked for Hospice after the four children had finished their schooling, up until age 82. She was loved by all who knew her and was often referred to as the lady with the healing hands. Meg loved the Lord deeply and served him faithfully until age and infirmity made it difficult for her to physically do so. Her love for all of God's creations and her caring nature was apparent to all who knew her and whilst she will be sorely missed, we carry her in our hearts for the remainder of our lives. The family requests that any voluntary donations are made to the Mooi River Community Church. There will be a celebration of her life at the Mooi River Community Church on the 15th October 2022 at 11am (see Events for an online event option for those unable to attend in person).
