June 28th, 1932 - November 16th, 2016

Magdalena H. Valerio, 84, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on Nov. 16th 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elizardo Valerio, parents, Rufina Vasquez and Bernabe Herrera, sisters, Teresa Olonia, Clara Medina and Cordilla Herrera, brother,s Manuel, Jose and Solomon Herrera and very dear friend, Orlando Martinez. She is survived by her son, Andy (Mary), grandchildren, Roberto, Maria, Alicia (Joe), Zoe (Miguel) and great grandchildren, Alexandria and Miguel, sister, Efren Luna, brother, Juan Herrera and stepdaughter, Peggy Ferguson. Magdalena was born and raised in Taos, NM. She was married to Elizardo Valerio for twenty eight years, together they had one child, Andy Valerio. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many. Magdalena was very proud and protective of her grandchildren and even more so of her great granddaughter. She was very involved with the Ranchos Presbyterian Church where she served for thirty years as treasurer for the Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed cooking and always insisted on preparing holiday meals alone, she never wanted anyone’s help because she wanted things done right. She loved to dance and was lucky to find a partner, Orlando Martinez, who also enjoyed dancing. Together, they would drive around to the small towns of northern NM looking for local fiestas and dance halls. They loved to travel, shop, eat out, anything to spend time together. She was a dear friend to many. She will forever be in our hearts and will forever keep us smiling when we think back to the times we shared. Funeral service was held on November 21, 2016 at the Ranchos Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home, Taos. To the family of Magdalena Valerio, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Even though I did not know Mrs. Magdalena Valerio personally, I know how it feels to loose someone close to you. I hope your family can find comfort in the scripture John 5: 28, 29. This scripture highlights the hope for our dead loved ones. I want you to know that I will be praying for your family during this difficult time.

To the Valerio family. I'm so sorry for the loss of your loved one. I would like to share a comforting thought from the bible. Revelation 21:4 reads " And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The things have passed away. For more information on this go to JW.org. Sincrerly yours Charlie
