Loved Ones

Leonard Munoz was born on April 22, 2022 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Jose and Vicenta Munoz. He is one of 4 children: (Leonard) Carmen, Juan and Frank. He met his wife Betty and they were married in 1949. They are the parents to 6 children; Lilly, Adela, Gabriel, Leonard Roy, Sarah and Dorothy. Leonard’s family grew with over 12 grandchildren who absolutely adored him. Leonard has been a long time resident of the San Fernando Valley. He enlisted in the US Army at a young age. After his Army days he became a hardworking blademan and he was the best! He was part of the freeway construction crew that helped build the 118 and well known 405 freeway and many more. He had such great skills that he worked in many cities, even as far as to work in Saudi Arabia. His children remember him wearing his orange safety vest and his hardhat while carrying around his huge workblade. Even when Leonard made the decision to retire after 40+ years of service he could not keep away from his craft for long. He was semi-retired and still working into his early 80’s. This amazing man also had a heart to preach. He did missionary work in Mexico. He would preach alone if he felt in his heart he needed to and could be found on the corner of San Fernando Mission and O’Melveny preaching the Word of God with his bible raised up to encourage his community. He would do so while praying and offer prayer to those who were either just passing by or those who stopped and wanted to know more about God Almighty. He also showed his devotion in church as he played the stand up bass while the worship team sang. This was just another way he showed his love for God. As Leonard grew older he continued to minister to his family and anyone he came in contact with and he certainly loved to read the Word. With his sense of humor, youthful appearance, and thoughtfulness you knew he was one of a kind. Leonard will be remembered as a loving and devoted Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great-Great Grandfather and friend.
