Loved Ones

Larry Morris experienced enough memories to fill multiple lifetimes. Born in Florida and raised in Pittsburgh, Larry set his final roots in Scottsdale, Arizona where he served as a successful, serial entrepreneur, loving husband, caring father, and passionate pickleballer.

Regardless of how the world changed around him over seven decades, Larry remained unbreakably welcoming and warm to those he met, struck by wanderlust, and driven to provide for his family the life he could not have as a child. This same drive is what powered him to fight Stage IV lung cancer for 9 months, battling symptoms most would experience during their final 3 days of life for over 3 weeks.

Receiving his final living wish, he passed peacefully the morning of October 22, 2023 in his own bed, his two youngest children, Bruce and Adele Morris, with him, and a photo of his wife, who he now joins, watching over him.

Small world. I went to Univ of Pittsburgh in the 1960's -- frequented a bar named Frankie Gustines. Larry floored me with the greatest lob ever when he told me he lived on the floor just above the FG pub. I will always remember Larry -- his one-liners, lobs, his inimitable smile and plain old kindness to everyone. Peace be with you until we meet again.

Larry- what a joy it was to get to know you! You will be missed by so many especially all those friends you made playing pickleball. Rest in peace, my friend.

It’s hard to believe such a vibrant soul has passed but he is now with Joy, the love of his life, walking the streets of gold. He told me that many of his friends couldn’t believe I had worked with him as his realtor for 12 years and that we had never met, but it’s true! We did have many lively texts, calls & emails during those years. We finally did meet two weeks before his passing and I got the biggest hug I’ve ever received. Not only was he my best client, he was also a dear friend and he is greatly missed. Fly high my friend and give Joy a big hug for me!

I’m guessing you went out smiling, with both your paddles, and the ball sack hanging from your backpack. Cholla won’t ever be the same. We’ll all miss you buddy.

Larry I will miss seeing you off and on the courts. I will miss our texting, our lunch and dinner dates, I will miss your smile, the eyes towards the sky when I missed a shot at pball. But most of all I will miss a true friend who I could always share anything with.
