Katherine (KC) McHale (60 years) passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, 5/7/2023. She is survived by her husband, Jerry (61 years), and children, Drew (35) (wife, Kassandre), Taylor (30), and Zach (28) as well as her father, Hardin King (90), and sisters, Margaret (62) and Helen Lisle King (58). She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Lisle, and sister, Mary Scott King.
She was born and raised in Huntington, WV and moved to Durango, CO to attend college where she met Jerry. She finished her college education at the University of Northern Arizona where she graduated from the Physical Therapy program. She then moved with Jerry to Medford, NJ where they raised their 3 children and she worked for the Physical Therapy Department of the Virtua Hospital system.
KC lived a very active and adventurous life. She enjoyed going to the family beach house in Long Beach Island, NJ, hiking out West (Havasu Falls and Yosemite being some of her favorites), and skiing. KC and her family would return to Colorado most winters for ski trips with their college friends and families. She also enjoyed exploring the world. Some of the countries she has been to include Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, and Hungary.
KC was always very involved in her children’s lives. She volunteered her time every season to the various sports her kids played. Once they were in college, she loved to visit them whether it was to hang at the beach in Wilmington, NC (UNCW) or attend a football game for parent’s weekend at Clemson or Penn State. She always made a point of getting to know her children’s friends, many of whom she was still very close with. In the summer of 2020 alone, she traveled to North Carolina, California, and Colorado to attend the weddings of three of Drew’s friends.
She was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma tumor in November 2019 and has been on a surgical and treatment journey surrounded by family and friends. KC constantly had the most positive outlook and was a true fighter until the very end. She had such an amazing support system - a real testament to how great of a friend she was to so many people. KC will always be remembered for her generosity, optimism, and fun-loving attitude.
In lieu of flowers or gifts we instead ask for donations to be made to www.cancercare.org to help emotionally and financially support other families in similar situations. KC’s Celebration of Life will be May 22nd from 1-4 PM at Indian Springs Country Club (115 S Elmwood Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053). A receiving line will be held the first hour and then the floor will open for speeches, food, and drinks. KC would want this to be a PARTY so no need to dress in formal funeral attire.

KC was one of the most warm , loving, caring people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. She was a friend to everyone she ever met! There is such a sadness in knowing that the sunshine she brought to our world had left us, but she has left us a rainbow of wonderful memories in its place! Sending hugs and prayers to your beautiful family!
