It is with great sadness that we announce that Joyce Ive (Verhoeven, nee Riden) passed away on November 15, 2020. She is survived by her husband Charlie Ive, her son Roger Verhoeven (Nicole), step-children from another marriage Olga Ilich, Frits Verhoeven (Kathy), Irene Browning (Ken), grandchildren Ryan and Megan Verhoeven, eight step-grandchildren Erik, James, Matthew, Jeffrey, Michael, Natalie, Alexander, and Marcus, and numerous other relatives in Wales and Ontario. Born in England, Joyce grew up in Wales with her family. Her parents Ernest and Hilda Riden (nee Atkinson) and siblings Brian Riden, Joan Johns (nee Riden), Keith Riden, and Eric Riden all pre-decease her. She bravely immigrated to Canada on her own in 1964 landing in Montreal and then making her way to Vancouver. She was a hard working woman and once settled, had her mother immigrate to join her. Joyce met Jan “John” Cornelis Verhoeven in the late 60’s with whom she married and had her only child Roger. John pre-deceased Joyce in 2006. She was fortunate to meet Charlie in 2007. They spent most of their marriage on the Island in Qualicum and Nanaimo, returning to Langley eventually to be closer to her son. Joyce suffered with dementia and both her husband Charlie and son Roger were dedicated in their visits and care for her throughout her illness and time in the care facility. Joyce was a loved wife, mother, and nanny to her family and will be greatly missed.

A beautiful and loving woman. We were so happy when our children's marriage brought us together as one family.
